Hi,

This may have been asked before, if so please delete and direct me to the answer.

Like many (I assume) I get a bit cheesed off with my phone flying off the ledge when accelerating or having to plug my phone in all the time to access Android Auto. So, I bought one of these:- https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0D2V5DZC1?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details it connects with my phone (Nokia) and is recognised by my car. However, when I try to pair it with the car I get the message "pairing failed". I have tried unpugging, re plugging, clearing from phone etc all to no avail and I am starting to lose what little hair I have left!

Has anyone had this problem and cured it? All suggestions welcomed.

Thank you.

Have you unpaired your phone with the car, I did this before connecting my phone to the dongle.

I have one and it works perfectly. Plugs into the left hand USB - not the C connector as shown above
That's the one I tried. the light comes on and flashes then stays on when it discovers the car (or vice versa). It is only when I go into the bluetooth settings and it asks if I want to replce the existing connection, my phone, it says pairing failed. I will try disconnecting the phone first as CooperS suggests.

OK, i am still having a nightmare with this, please see question to and reply from seller.

Hi, I purchased this item to use in my MG4. My phone (Nokia G90) recognises it and my car recognises it. I can pair with my phone but am unable to pair with my car, I keep getting the message "pairing failed". Do you have any suggestions on how to get this working please?Regards,Mark

Good Afternooon. Thank you for your order. It sounds as though our adapter is incompantible with your vehicle. We apologise for any inconvenience caused by this. Please contact Amazon customer service and explain the issue. They will assist you in arranging a refund. Kind Regards, Dashlink Customer Support.

Should I send it back? Is there an alternative? HELP!!!

I got this one

This arrived yesterday £14.84 from AE. I have been using a cable which works fine, but after reading a few posts, thought I would give a wireless adaptor a go.
This advertised for both Carplay and Android, I have an Android phone, so my comments are for that only.

Instructions are straightforward but with very tiny writing.
Plugged in and the car recognised the unit, followed instructions and paired without any issues. I then paired with my phone, having first unpaired from the car. Again no connection issues and Google maps appeared on screen, but message said that Spotify was offline.

I then spent 10 minutes fighting the wi-fi connections on my phone, but no joy. I then spat my dummy out and decided enough was enough! However upon checking the icons on the phone, there was no 4G letters displayed,

I later had another go and the phone worked as it should have done using my data allowance.
I can only presume that there was a temporary phone network error.

Anyway like @Bricktop X PWR I digress.

I subsequently have got in the car a few times and everything seems to be working as it should. Android auto has started up fairly quickly, phone status, maps and Spotify all working.
How long this lasts, who knows, however for £14.84 Im not complaining…..yet…View attachment 28323

I agree with @mystreet If it doesn't work send it back. It's straightforward with Amazon especially if you take it back to a selected post office. You don't have to wrap it up and the refund is in your Amazon account within a couple of hours if that's what you choose, ready to buy a replacement.

If it does not work, send it back.

I have one of these and works perfectly for my android phone and the better half's iPhone

Does this have the ability to delay the connection at startup to allow the MG4 infotainment screen to finish loading

OK,

I'm on my 4th dongle now and still can't get the damn thins to work. This is the latest https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DCJY9Z4X The car recognises it (as it has all of the others) but when I try to pair it tells me "connection failed". Before I start I clear all Bluetooth devices from my phone (Nokia G20) and the car.

below is a screenshot of the setting screen showing the software installed. I don't think it is the most up to date but would that make a difference?

Any suggestions please?

Have you set the delay in the dongle to 30 seconds?

Plug dongle for into power only source (no data). Connect phone to it using WiFi (codes will be in instructions with password, same procedure as updating dongle software). There should be a heading “delay”. Set that to 30 seconds

I bought two of these for MGs and they work great,
when I plug into the car first time it took about 30s , might've required manually selecting android auto, then it shows a pair screen w/ the device name - pairing was straightforward.

Have you tried with a different android device?

Thanks. I'll have a try.

The car screen shows the device and asks to pair with a PIN number, I select pair and it fails.

I have the Motorola MA1 and had issues until I had my head unit software updated to the latest. My Bluetooth would constantly disconnect which made using wireless AA almost impossible. I'd definitely recommend you update to the latest software before trying an AA dongle.

The dongle I bought didn't have update instructions, had to connect to it's wifi address ( pw 88888888 ), then go to its ip 192.168.1.101 , switch to p2p mode at the bottom of that page - then connect again to the new wifi network except you have to use wifi direct ( in your phones advanced options ) wait for the device to show up, connect - it's switched ip to 192.168.1.1 then update from there.
