Anyone else notice a price increase on the Tesla open to all chargers since last weekend ?

I did recent charges while away at Banbury and Portsmouth both were 34p off peak, now 51p and 52p off peak.

I charged at Todhills on 31-Aug, off peak at 42p. When I look online now the same chargers are now 48p off peak. The ones closest to me (so irrelevant really) are now 52p off peak.

wholesale prices are going up.

My local one is now 7p/kwh dearer.
100kWh a month (350/400 miles) at Tesla, without membership, this is £7 extra off peak, £48 total, up from £41.
With membership, £46
£84 extra a year.

Instavolt has now lowered their off-peak to 52p/kwh.
Most places I charge at are around 60/65p kWh.

I did notice the one near me has had a price jump. This one is a dealership as well and is always very busy with a mix of Tesla and not. My gut feeling is they increased the price to reduce non Tesla and allow the Tesla more access.

One in the other direction I know is not very busy has not increased their prices.

Just checked the three nearest to me, and the prices have definitely changed. Seems the peak charging price has changed the most, and is at least 60p/kWh instead of 53p/kWh. Off peak is cheaper and not much different to before. Trying to discourage peak charging maybe?

Re. open to all Tesla supercharger sites ... on my way back from the homeland today I stopped at the Carlisle Ionity chargers (next to Starbucks) and every single one was in use (except for the one with a cone in front of the bay as it was out of order). So I decided to drive a few miles up the M6/M74 and stopped off at Gretna Gateway Outlet Village to use the superchargers there - worked great. (Now 48p per kWh standard price but still cheaper than Ionity etc.).

Anyone looking for them - they're in the main car park which i opposite the (BP?) garage, so turn right at the roundabout assuming you're passing the garage on your left. The access road takes you left and up the hill ... the superchargers are on your left just before the road bends right. Be careful to take the correct turning - it's a little confusing ... if you see a metal/wire fence and a one-way sign in front of you, you've gone past the Tesla entrance and so have to go all the way back around the car park, round the main roundabout and back in. (Don't ask how I know). ?‍♂️

i.e. this entrance here, not the one where the M&S sign is. :)

( Edited: M&S ... M&D is the theme park at Strathclyde Park ? )

Here's how Google maps suggests you access it. It certainly looks a bit complicated.

For some reason last time I came that way I just stopped at the Carlisle Ionitys rather than going on to Gretna. Perhaps it was in my mind that if they were full I could always go on to Gretna, but they weren't. Also, I know my way to the Ionitys and I haven't tried to get to that Supercharger. Yet.

Getting to it is very easy ... come off at the B7076 exit before the services. There's even a sign saying to follow B7076 to reach Gretna Gateway. Then the route is as per your map ... once you take that turning it's not as severe as the map suggests (nor my Google Maps Streetview link) - they've added a cut-across pretty much between that lamppost/bin and the red car in my link.

I expect I'll be using that one before much longer. I think there's a better choice of eateries there than just that Starbucks in Carlisle. As I remember, last time I was going to go to Gretna, except when I had looked it was busier than the Ionitys. Then the rain eased off a bit as I approached Carlisle and I thought I'd just go there. Then the weather still wasn't fit for getting out of the car and since I only needed a small amount of charge I just sat in the car.

I think that Gretna is likely to be my go-to stop coming home from Halifax in future.

For my trips to Newcastle ... Todhills on the way down, Gretna Gateway on the way back. (With a granny charge at my brother's whilst there). ?

I could technically make it all the way there without charging, but I need to stop for myself anyway so may as well graze charge at the same time. :)

I'm for Tebay on the way down, or even Killington Lake if they get it sorted out, and probably Gretna on the way back although Carlisle is fine too. The guy at Tebay was telling me the plans they had for a positive field of CCS chargers, although I don't know the timescale. They have four at the moment.

I had the Tesla tweak made at my September service but haven't had the opportunity or nerve to try their chargers yet. My ZS is standard range so I have to maximise my range on long journeys with careful planning of charges. Can't leave anything to chance.

Most non-Tesla sites in Scotland are 40p-50p range off peak, around 60p peak. It's only Aviemore which is showing as stupidly expensive, and I guess that's to try and deter non-Tesla owners (or encourage people to take out Tesla membership). Looking on Zap Map it seems ultra-rapid chargers are at a premium (i.e. not many of them) in that area, so maybe Tesla owners have been complaining about access.

At the beginning of September, it was 44p (or thereby) peak. It's not just up here. Leeds was about 45p in August, now 66p. Yes, variable rates are used to manipulate demand, but not everyone can, or is willing, to charge in the evenings or main working hours.
