So, having had a helluva day escaping the gravitational pull of Cornwall full of tourists and making it back to the midlands in a mere 7 hours(!!), with 2 charges on the way, rather than sitting in a hotel room planning our journey back tomorrow ( and sleeping of which there will be plenty) we decided to venture out during a quiet Sunday evening and get a cheap full charge on Merry Hill Centre Tesla chargers.
Love it, quiet roads, nobody around, no waiting for chargers and best of all a full tank at the cheapest rate ??

....and, as there's no-one else around waiting for a charger, I can literally take advantage of the cheap rate and fill'er up ???

Achieved domestic ac charging rate on a Tesla supercharger ??

17.2 mile round trip to get to the nearest Tesla chargers.
Not sure I'd ever have done that for petrol back in the day... Not absolutely sure it was cost effective BUT better than just wasting the evening in a hotel room - The Black Country by Night ??.... Yam orrite

Re charging costs, we are about to switch to a dedicated EV home tariff with EON, which is even cheaper than Economy 7 for overnight use and is even a little cheaper than the standard tariff for peak use at other times. Definitely worth considering for those with home chargers.

Is it cheaper than Octopus 7.5p for 6 hours, 26.78 peak and 65.13p / day standing charge?

In a word, yes! Haven't got figures to hand at the moment but is definitely cheaper across all three categories you quote. I believe it is 6.9 per kWh between midnight and 7am.

Just having a looksee ( which I suppose I should've done first) but yep, looking good. Trying to find the standing charge rate but they're suitably vague and it will appear when getting a quote as it varies geographically ( I think) - would be interested to hear what yours is when you have the figures to hand please.

The other benefit of Intelligent Go is that they’ll guarantee you a full overnight charge at the cheap rate. If the six-hour cheap window isn’t long enough, they’ll extend it.
.. the downside is that you need an Ohme Pro (which I do have) or Zappi, or compatible car. I looked at IG, but a fixed 7 hr midnight to 7am, more than suits our needs, so have just signed up to EON, transfer date is the 1st June, ? .

Peak and standing charge does vary depending on where you live. Attached is my quote for near Mold N Wales, in an urban area not in the sticks.
Im going to go with BGas again, best rates for me.

Wave if you see an orange Trophy — I’m just off the A541 eight miles west of Mold, and get there most weeks.

I'm confused. When you say you achieved 'domestic charging rate' on a Tesla supercharger, the maths doesn't add up. Looks like you're paying 40p/kWh when domestic rate on Octopus is 7.5p off peak and under 30p peak. Are you on an expensive home tariff?
Or am I just missing something here? ?

Yeah, sorry. It was late, I was tired and the forum packs all posts in the same post, despite the fact it was 3 separate when I posted.
I was referring to speed, rather than cost. Having decided to cram as much in as possible due to no-one else being around and having nothing better to be doing, it had dropped to 6kw by 97%.
Obviously I'd finish around 80% normally, during busy times etc. but this was the first time I'd seen a 250kw charger charging at 6kw.

Ah haha that makes more sense!
I only charged publicly once and tried a Tesla as well. Think it was 33p/kWh. Speed was amazing!
As we have a very economical Renault Kadjar as our second car we take this on longer journeys to avoid public charging as I still can't come to terms with public charging prices ?
