OBD2 MG5EV

Are you looking for advice on what to get or where to get it from?

I have an OBDLink LX Model LX101. I bought it because Bjorn Nyland (Tesla Bjorn on Youtube) uses it. I use it with the Car Scanner App. I'm definitely a beginner, but I'm learning.
The only problem I have encountered so-far, is that if I leave it plugged in and lock the car, the alarm goes off some time later.

CAn anyone provide aq solution? I thought I had done my research and the OBDLink CX was 100% mentioned as compatible with my brand new MG 4 EV. However, having set it all up and I go to lock and leave the car, the ALARM GOES OFF!! The only way I could resolve this was to put my iPhone into FLIGHT mode. It then allowed me to lock the car. There must be a better way ?!

@JIS

As indicated in the post directly above yours, it seems that leaving the OBD Scanner plugged in all the time sets off the car alarm because the alarm system thinks the car is being tampered with. The only solution is to plug it in ONLY when it is actually needed, I think.

Yes, well luckily I have orders an OBD on/off switch that is much easier to deal with. Physically unplugging the device every time I leave the car is not really an option (crawling around under the steering column !!) Thanks :-)

The trick is to quit the app/disconnect Bluetooth before you lock the car, the alarm only goes off when the dongle actively polls for data.

Yes. Or purchase a device that automatically turns off the moment the “ignition” is turned off. The OBDLink MX+ appears to do this, so fingers crossed this one will work.
Thanks for your thoughts.

Leaving the obd dongle plugged into your car will drain your 12v. Please be aware it will cause a parasitic drain.

Yes; I will fit an on/off switch to ensure that the unit is totally closed down at the end of a trip. That way we should avoid the alarm being triggered and also any battery drain. Thanks for your advice.
