Hi, I have looked for an answer to three questions related to my ZS EV. Firstly what exactly is the benefit of signing into the ‘Users’ section in infotainment, secondly is there a way of setting the HVAC to come on at 6am each weekday and lastly isn’t the iSMART app connectivity very inconsistent, is there a way to improve on this.

The only thing you can schedule is the charging and the battery heating.

What 'users' section do you mean?

How do you mean inconsistent? It's a bit slow, and sometimes a big buggy? What specifically do you mean?

Thanks re the charge. Is it better to have battery heating set to on?

On the second page of the ‘Home’ screen there is a users button you can sign into. Any benefits in doing so aren’t particularly evident.

The app often fails to connect to the car so to put HVAC on manually on a cold day is very hit and miss, more miss than hit to be honest.

Battery heating in theory would get it up to more efficient operating temp in cold weather. The value of it is questionable though, I think some peeps here have tested it with a ODBII scanner and it didn't seem to elevate it that much. I'd leave it alone.

The users but I can't see on mine, but maybe I am looking in the wrong place.

The app can be a bit patchy. The app sends the message to a server which then communicates with your car, so the latency can cause some issues here. I find it best to 'wake' in up by hitting the status tab in the app first, and then set a HVAC setting (or do whatever remote option you want do). This seems to have more success.

MG are not alone in this - the Hyundai Blue link app on my old car seemed to suffer a bit in the same way, although it maybe wasn't quite as bad.

The Chinese and Koreans just aren't quite their with the software.

app connection with the car also depends on the signal strength in your area, when parked in-between high rise buildings where my phone signal is also low, no way to get the car to react ..

Also, no idea what ‘Users’ section in infotainment is but the manual says:
4 User
Touch to enter the User interface. Refer to Navigation Manual for details.
- check that

That's why I don't bother with the app. In the recent cold snap. I just nip out, press the seat, the car boots up. Heater and Blower on full. Heated Steering wheel and seat on. Heated rear window on if needed. Go back in have a coffee. Go out car defrosted and car nice and Toasty. Drive off. Simple's. 🙂👍

You are suggesting that I leave the comfort of my house to do that… never! 😃

This is what I find confusing I have full strength connection to 4G and my home wife in the car. I live in the countryside so in theory with great device connection and no obstructions from even a tree. Live with it I guess

I can not see any benefits signing
As to the app I have found it’s the connectivity of the mobile internet cornnection that makes it inconsistent good in a 5g cover 4 and what is left of 3G not as good. At home have very good internet speed and works very fast.

As for the app battery heating from my understanding the app will not control this, reply from MG below.

Dear customer,

Thanks for your reply.

For the battery heating, you need to turn it off by yourself.

For app manual, we are working on it and will be available in future.

Thank you!

Best regards,

Wait. The ZS has a heated steering wheel? I've never found that! How do you turn it on?

It doesn’t.

The Ismart app is rubbish always needs logging in . Token expired . Been in touch with mg developers from the contact in the app . They are useless as well 😝
Have you got the app on more than one device?

I get token expired in regular intervals of (from memory) 2-3 months (I think? - anyway if I can't remember exactly, it means not often...) which is similar to what I get from some other banking apps asking to log in again every now for security reasons. doesn't bother me
(mine is installed on one phone only)

What's with the heated steering wheel? How does that work with the leather driving gloves? A refrigerated steering wheel would be good over this side of the globe .... and refrigerated seats so the skin doesn't get burnt off the backs of the legs when you sit down .....

Is that more a reaction to what your legs look like in shorts? Or that all white skinned UK residents should never wear shorts because the reflection from those lily white legs could cause confusion regarding warning lights appearing to show double on the windscreen? ;) :ROFLMAO:

Don't use it it's crap. Has your driving range drastically altered downwards like 2.5 miles per kWh.. It alters so much I the winter.

What reduces driving range, the users feature, or putting your HVAC on before you set off?
