Morning,
Well, I've had my MG4 LR for two days now. Ive tried to change settings on the info system i.e LKA, regen braking etc but when I jump back in the car next morning, the settings revert back to factory settings. What am I doing wrong ? Am I missing a save button somewhere ?
Any advice would be gratefully received

Thanks & here's to happy motoring

You are not missing anything. Thanks to NCAP all safety settings have to revert to on every time the car is started.

It is a major PITA that modern cars are forced to have by the EuroNCAP gods. The nanny state is steadily making driving more difficult in the name of safety statistics.

There is more to look forward to in the coming years, such as mandatory speed limiting, on-board breathalysers and more of the existing systems becoming impossible to disable (driver monitoring in particular). While the future rules haven't been finalised yet, so some of these might not happen, this is the direction of travel.

I am seriously thinking of getting an electric classic car conversion.

Understand why, annoyingly, that happens for safety-related settings, but what about his regen settings - that's not an NCAP thing is it  Or am I missing something?

Is OPD available on all MG4's or just the version "2" models, or just ones with a specific software update?

I think the thought is if one person is used to the car behaving one way and one day another driver changes it, then it could cause an accident. E.g. if you're expecting OPD to be on and let your foot off the brake you don't expect the car to move, but it would if OPD had been turned off.

They seem happy to have you drive after a full charge then find you don't slow down properly when you get to the first junction though. There is message for this which you normally miss so that doesn't help.

Most of us seem happy to deal with the consequences of it remembering the settings, but realistically I don't see them doing that without them also implementing driver profiles. And that's not going to happen as an upgrade due to the cost of almost everyone wanting it unfortunately.

Very true, unfortunately. But it might just be a case of Lowest Common Denominator - trying to protect the people that are not quite as enthusiastic about driving and cars as we are. As usual, the innocent suffer for the guilty. Very sad example on the news this week about the teenagers taking laughing gas and then confirming the theory of natural selection - not sure if any safety measures can prevent these types of event.

Just tried it and you're right, when I tried other regen settings I found I preferred it on high so left it on that setting, didn't realise it was also the default when you get in the car
