Some interesting conclusions about battery life

This looks fairly real to me, but it's a bit above my head,
It's one of the references from that article.
 
These things tend to go over my head, but the take away I got from the article is that in standard tests they continuously charge/drain the battery, and in real life this doesn't really happen. In real life you demand a bit, you give a bit (in regen) and most interestingly it appears "resting" the battery seems to really prolong the life. And most cars sit more than they drive I would say.

I'm not too surprised testing based on ICE thinking turns out to not be very accurate at predicting BEV outcomes.
 
It definitely helps to let the battery ‘rest’ especially at lower states of charge which gives a more accurate voltage and therefore a better equalisation. The Tesla engineering menu uses this to calculate the actual state of health of a battery and takes about 24 hours
 
Mine is charged once or twice daily one on 6kW charger and one on 44-60kW charger and I drive spirited driving especially in early mornings on weekends when work is busy can go several times up to 170kms as roads are empty here, yes you have to do mixed driving to keep everything in good working order . I have done 130,000+ kms on my car and still can get 480kms range when fully charged and car is 1 year 9 months old . Very happy with car.

These numbers are at least an outlier. Of course, the temperature on Malta is a bonus. The WLTP is what? 435 km. Did you ever do a long trip of 480 km with a single charge?

No but did 350 kms and had 80kms range left i never let it go down under 30% , that time i was about 22%
 
That's about WLTP range. On the occasion I had 550 km maximum range during the summer (>25 degrees) with my ER. But that was often based on recent drives that were very economic (like trips with 13 kWh/100km) in those high temperatures. The reality was often much lower. I do not think I ever got the WLTP of 520 out of one charge.
But it is good to hear your range seems to hold. Do you know current max SOC?

As you say state of charge change according your driving , i can get it to 525 if i drive very sensible but it will fall faster the first few kms , if i drive fast i can get it as low as 380 so very big changes

But you do not know how much you lost on the maximum of your battery? They all lose some, surely after 170k km.
