MG5 Confused over update versions

I’ve realised I did have scheduled charging set at Earley (can’t stay re Bristol) so may try once more this week before approaching dealer.
Don’t bother trying again because of the charging schedule, our MG5 simply ignores it when connected to DC Rapid chargers

I tried one a at (really busy!) site near Luton Airport this morning. The charger said Unauthorised Vehicle. The car knew it was connected but just waited patiently (which is more than I did - maybe I didn't give it long enough for the Charge Ceased message I'd seem previously.

Anyway I've mailed the salesperson at the dealer who came back with "I have spoken to the workshop and they have asked if you could book the vehicle in so they can have a look at the charging port and the reason behind why the tesla charging is not working"

to which I've replied "There is nothing wrong with the charging port, it is just a software update which hopefully can be done while I wait." and I'm waiting to hear...

@Muffler MPU and MCU software versions are same as yours above. I managed the nav update within days of getting the car in Nov, after finding the fix of deleting that file from the USB,

Ok. Cheers - shall go and have a firm chat with the dealer...
Which dealer Muffler? I think it could be the same as mine - in Beaconsfield (forgot their name)

Beaconsfield MG is part of Bristol Street Motors and are the nearest to me - was dealing with Rubbiya. I had everything set-up to go ahead with them on a price-match but they reneged on their offer at the last minute (as I was placing the deposit), saying they'd not included for the £545 uplift for black paint and I'd have to pay more accordingly. So, went back to Bath MG who had included for metallic paint in an equivalent quotation as well as confirming both type 2 and granny chargers in the deal. Bit of a pain re distance but have a daughter in Bristol and go that way regularly so wasn't too much of an inconvenience for me - more so now re the Tesla software though...

I do have a VNCI Odb2 dongle on order / have set-up an access account with MG to see if I can do the update myself, but it's taking a while for delivery.

Yes, I was dealing with Rubbiya too - when she was there , which didn't seem very often. I had specifically asked to ensure that the update was on, and at first they wanted to charge for it but I told them I wasn't paying. Then she agreed to do it for free after a cock up with the order which meant I didn't get my preferred colour. (Had they not I'd have walked.)

I now have an appointment on 6 Feb to get it seen to. I can't imagine it will go smoothly but I live in hope...

I’d be very surprised if MG will allow owners to do DIY upgrades, as even dealers are struggling to get authorisation.

Not sure if I’d take the risk, there have been reports of SW updates gone horribly wrong, essentially ‘bricking’ EVs..

Yes, they didn't come across as being particularly well organised and, after arranging to test drive a Trophy, rolled out a SE without saying anything and only acknowledging the fact after I started querying where certain features were...

Approach with caution, agreed! Updates for the MG4 is probably easier due to the work already done by forum members collating info and files, whereas I haven't seen much for the MG5. Stuff like the Tesla update should be viable from SIPS though with relatively little risk 🤞

As I now have 2 MG EV’s I’ll probably invest in the dongle/software and pay for a day’s access to see what versions I have for all the modules and do my own updates on both accordingly - seems a lot less hassle than arguing with the dealers…
ref @Muffler
Which Dongle, software and where would you pay what to get access to what software?
Interested in contributing potentially if you would be open to posting (physically if necessary) the kit

Most if not all of this is covered in the below MG4 thread:

I purchased this:
VNCI VDI3 Roewe MG Wuling Maxus Automotive Diagnostic Tool
Cost £121 standard delivery and it arrived today, 12 days after placing the order. You can pay a hefty premium for faster delivery but didn’t seem worth it to me.

Using it requires downloading and installing software onto a laptop as per links in the above MG4 thread + setting-up a MG user account here: https://rmi.mgmotor.eu/#/user-client/register (requires a company name and corresponding VAT number) and then buying a pass for access.
