Is it just me or has Autotrader changed (or changing) its format to view cars from a single top to bottom list to a thumbnail format (with 4 or 5 images across the page)? Seems to have changed in the last week or two, but sometimes I get the older format = the one I prefer.

This is on a PC with Chrome browser, I should add.

Am I missing a setting that controls how the results of a search are displayed? It seems to randomly swap between the two formats.

I noticed the recent change as well.

I prefer it in general because you get more results per page so you don't have to constantly click through.

A few of my friends are looking at EVs. One just went for an MG4.

True, but I feel there is less detail per car on the initial view and the "Ads" i.e. the ones you don't want to see, seem to be more frequent and interspersed, rather than just at the bottom of the page. Plus I liked the way I could quickly change search parameters on the left before, without having to keep displaying a pop up to change between versions, years etc. Progress, eh... Grumble over :(

Fair points!

I'm annoyed that it seems to forget some aspects of the search when you change something else, but perhaps that is my user error. Hopefully it gets easier with use.

Not just you. Only a moment ago I was searching for MG4's sorted by distance and it showed them hundreds of miles away on the first page (and not just the 'Ads').

Though, to be technically fair, it only offers sort by "distance", it doesn't actually say nearest-first !!

Top right corner click the blue filter and sort button, then sort, then distance from the drop down list. It appears they have a bug in the software so the home page doesn't talk to the results page. Probably to make MG4 owners feel at home 🤣

I like the new format, mostly but I have the Motorwatch extension installed on Chrome which when viewing Autotrader shows the price change history for the car in the ad. This seems to work nicely when going in from the home page but when you change the filter it gets lost. E.g a random search for a Renault e-Scenic. Notice the sneaky price change on the first one to make the reduction look more than it is. :)
