Has anyone else had this issue? Seems to be happening more often with my MY21 ZSEV.
If I give the driver's side mirror a whack and re-lock it usually folds, but I wouln't think that the best solution!

both of them at teh same time or one only?
seen somewhere a post about it, search the forum and it might pop up. something to do with using a silicone lubricant or WD40 ...
on my old car, it happened after some years and I eventually gave up worrying about it ...

Ideally don't use WD40 as it contains solvents that might not be good on the plastics. Silicone lubricant is a better choice.

corrected spelling - cheers @Alb

I am sure you have checked copilot and select mirror to auto fold. I found I needed to switch off because it kept opening when unlocking and hitting garage wall

Had the same problem with my 21plate and dealer fixed the problem on there second attempt. Using a silicone/silican spray. Ok now

Had this with my MG5 just the once but suffered this several times with the Skoda Yeti I had before with both the wing mirrors refusing to fold in when locking the car and once with them refusing to fold out when opening the car!
Switching on and off a couple of times sorted both the MG and the Skoda out. The dealers in each case didn’t seem bothered, just saying that it’s usually a stuck relay or similar. They’ve had these problems before!

I've had my ZS EV since August 2021. It's probably a control problem with the electronics. The problem keeps occurring that one or both exterior mirrors don't fold in. I then use the manual folding function a few times and then it works again for a while. I don't think it has anything to do with the lubrication.

Mine has done this with each mirror in rainy conditions. A repeat locking and gentle push into closed position has fixed it, but the silicone spray would be better!

Mirrors stopped folding on my 70 plate ZS last year some time. I did mention it when it went into the dealer in March, after it broke down... I'm not expecting them to be working if I ever get my car back.

Had the same problem with my ZS after winter road salting give them a squirt of WD through the straw on can directly to the pivot point worked fine for me.

Hi My four year old ZSEV has had the problem it was happening last year in Jan advised by the dealer to give it a push but resisted this as I’m not sure it is in the design spec. The problem did not occur throughout the rest of the year but has come back with the cold weather. The dealer has contacted MG and a new mirror is being fitted under the warranty. Result

Strange why they would swap it out, sounds to me like water gets into some gear and locks up the mechanism (Or the grease used in the gears does not cope well with low temperatures)

In any case, it should have been possible to just grease the mechanism up (Unless offcourse som engineer designed it so that is is a closed part....To make it waterproof........And we all know waterproof just means that the water will never get out, when it gets into something)
