I admit, I wasn't a Vauxhall guy, but I did lust after the Lotus Carlton.

And I did briefly own a 79 Opel Rekord.

Not that the Rekord was comparable!

Ok, in order,
Cars
1600 Cortina Mk5
Opel Manta GTE
during which I discovered bikes after reading a Fast Lane (remember them) Article about the Honda CBR600 with the headline "£5000 can buy you 150 MPH!"

I did a training course and passed my test within a couple of months -
Honda CBR 600
Yamaha FZR 600
Suzuki GSXR 1100
Kawasaki ZXR 750 L1 Painted the wheels Flurescent Pink!
Yamaha Thunderace
Kawasaki ZX7R Shortlived because........
Yamaha R1 - At the time, mindblowing! I had one of the first ones in '98.
Honda Fireblade
Suzuki GSXR 1000

During and after my "bike" years I also had the following,

1300 Triumph Spitfire Couldn't close the windows fully because the chassis was bowing in the middle!

2L Cavalier
Fiat Coupe 2l Turbo Limited Edition
Rover 800 Sterling
Mini Cooper S - Company car

My late business partner was very into Vauxhall Senators. It was because he wanted a new one that I traded in Ferndinand for Ariel. He came into the lab one day and said, "I want a new car and by the terms of the partnership agreement you have to have one too, what do you want?" By that time I was fed up with the lack of aircon (and power steering) in the Fiesta, and since only larger cars had aicon back then I ended up with the Peugeot 306 (rather than the 206), discovered I could get my bike into the back of it, and there we were.

You could buy an old one and get it converted at great expense:
You could also convert it yourself at great time expense, and "only" high monetary expense. I helped convert a Mazda MX-5 to electric back when LFP cells were fairly new (2009) in just 5 short years 🙄

Fortunately the other guy paid for it. It was a great time.

Probably too many controls on the f$%^%&*$ touch screen ! stars are lost for very odd reasons these days. All we want is a car that protects us in a crash!
Thats why I like my old MG5 (lots of buttons and switchesin the ight place!).
