MG4 X Power Vibe/Hum 65 to 75mph

For reliable cheap fast motoring the X power delivers ..

excluding the vibration the car has delivered almost everything i expected ..

Even with my pilot sport 5s the car still feels a bit unsure in corners ..

Is it better "YES" and in the wet mind you im past the wet months here now ( im in the slippery wet months, so extreme heat and some rain in the same day make the road slippery ) it feels more sure footed than it did with the stock rubbish !!

So i feel it will be solid in the winter here no doubt !!

everything else yeah pretty good ..

Bluetooth is sketchy so it requires re pairing often.

The odd software freeze was annoying ( easy fix ) BUT i havent really had a issue with software freezing of late( after last update ) but can be slow to catch up at times now so the screen is still figuring out what to do a few meters down the road !!

Otherwise apart from those things that annoy me, it never fails or lets me down with day to day basic operation

Get in drive , drive fast , everything works quite well , stop , rinse and repeat !!

Would i buy another MG? probably not this was my first EV and i dont think MG as a company has been decent enough to keep my business ..

I will look else where in 5 to 6 years as the car nears the end of its warranty period ..

There is still nothing as fast in AUS at this price point ..

The Renault EV 5 A290 gts ( not sure if its awd ) but needed 250kW and AWD at a sensible 70k aud price point and I would seriously look at it!!

Quite interesting.

Well I think it is.....

I have a very slow, Near Side Front puncture, and when the tyre pressure gets to 37psi, the vibes come back with a vengeance.

All the others are at 42.

Odd, no?

All the "evidence" points to the rear of the car.

I've always said it was the front of the car that was the problem.

Have you considered changing the front anti roll bar to a slightly softer spec?

🤨 what is the latest on that?

Solicitors instructed, case built, just waiting for them to pull the trigger.

I'm of the opinion that since MG admitted the problem as a Fault, they won't have a leg to stand on.

They can trot out the characteristic bollox to their hearts content.

The fact that later cars don't do it makes that line look like absolute tosh.

Looking forward to a result quite soon.....

MG dug their own grave by fixing the vibe in the same generation of MG4 ..

If they want to cry characteristic fine BUT you don’t fix a characteristic you fix a fault so by definition of the two words a characteristic is a issue inherent with all models that doesn’t need or can’t be fixed ..

A fault is something that can and in this case HAS been fixed so by definition of fault it is a fault ..

Otherwise why fix it????

BTW my car went into dealership yesterday to have the parts for the fix fitted so will keep everyone posted on my outcome in a few days ..

That said I think I’ve fallen in love with my loan car the 2024/2025 mg HS SUV ..

It’s gutless as its a terrible 1.5 ltr POS motor front wheel drive MEH ..

BUT as a suv it looks and drives really really nice full pleather all the bells and whistles GF’s kids love it more than my X power..

All in all a very very nice car to drive for a cheap family suv it’s spot on ..

If it had 200kW EV awd I would seriously consider throwing the MG4 X power away and buy that car for sure ..

Am I just getting old and too family oriented ???🤣🤣🤣

Hi everyone, been looking into getting a new Xpower on a salary sacrifice lease deal that includes all maintenance, insurance costs, etc. Is the current consensus that the vibration issue is fixed for new build cars or is that just wishful thinking?! Thanks.

Hi and a warm welcome to the forum 😊👍

I think it's hard to say for sure as there are not that many new owners on here and reports can be a bit mixed anyway.

I would guess that if you are ordering a new one now, then it will be a factory order at the moment (non in stock for a personal lease at the moment) so you should get the very latest build which is "supposed" to have fixed it, or at least minimised it substantially, according to previous posts on here.

Is your salary sacrifice fairly flexible or does it have limited cars and fairly fixed set prices which don't fluctuate like the personal lease market ?

Source of chart below : Leaseloco - MG Motor UK MG4 320kW EV XPOWER 64kWh 5dr Auto Lease: 48 Month 5000 Miles 3 Months Upfront and click on "price history" at bottom.

Thanks for the reply.

The scheme at work seems to be quite a steady price. I did order a Trophy LR but they messed up with the order and have offered an XPower with delivery in 3 weeks.

Think Salary Sacrifice. Is just like a Mobility car, in that everything is payed for, except obviously the Leccy you use. They even fit a Home charger, if you haven't already got one, for free. Quite a few at work, have got um, they say it's a no brainer.

I have been running my XPower on a salary sacrifice scheme for just over a year now. Really noticed the vibes at first, but with some tweaking of tyre pressures and 6,500 miles of tyre wear it is much less noticeable. Also depends how often you will be driving in the vibe zone 65-75mph how much it will impact you. For me I would say it is now a non issue.

It is the 1st time I ever had a car on any kind of lease and for me the fact that the lease company control everything including where the car is serviced is more of a pain than the vibes as it means I can't build up any sort of relationship with an MG dealer for things like software updates.

To be honest most of my driving will be 60 or less so as you say it shouldn’t be much of an issue.

If leasing make sure you have the option to give it back after the term of the lease .

Some leasing companies do and some don’t!

My reason for that is the car will depreciate and by a lot and fast you may find yourself stuck with an undervalued ballon figure at the end ..

As for the car itself the X power is a great car and buying a non vibe later model is a must ..

Oddly enough the 24/5 mg hs feels better to drive ( gutless yes ) but oddly better than my X power!

BUT

Call me bitter or just plain pissed off I worry about new customers that expect decent service from MG as a whole ..

To be frank I’ve had to fight and luckily get a good dealer to help me get my fix..

Which I should get my car back later today so I’ll keep everyone posted on outcome ..

What I’m getting at is if MG are sitting on there hands with this issue what’s next ??

As a company I’m not impressed at all I don’t feel confident that if another issue arises I’m not going to have to fight to get a fix AGAIN !

The 24/25 MG hs suv I’ve been using as a loan car is also a great car as is my ( vibe excluded) X power

but I feel I wouldnt buy another MG because of MG’s say nothing hope the issue goes away attitude..

I get a real you don’t pay alot for our cars so you dont get a lot back in the way of service vibe !!

Totally agree, I've said previous everything is a debate and a drawn out pain in the proverbial trying to get stuff fixed.

MGs attitude to the vibe and ongoing issues (in some cases) with the wonky under tray that they classed both as characteristics of the car sum up their attitude to after sales.
Yes the cars are cheaper and for the most part good value but (if you accept some of the obvious cost savings) there is still no excuse for crap after sales.
No matter how fast the X power takes off from lights
