After 9 months of owning my 5 I have to say that the one thing that really annoys me is that when using the sat nav (car used for business journeys daily and receive a lot of phone calls when driving) and the phone rings, half of the screen is taken up by a bar at the top half of the screen displaying the details of who is calling. This blocks the important part of the sat nav screen and prevents you seeing upcoming turns in time. Is there a way of minimising the call part of the screen?

Apple CarPlay lets you go back to sat nav screen when taking a call. Where I work we are not supposed to take calls when driving. It is a huge distraction.
Yeah, my work phone has all app type things blocked so can’t use air play. I keep raising this point at work about taking calls when driving and hoping that it becomes policy not to receive them. Sadly, managers expect to be able to reach us 24 hours a day🥴

I've the same issue - and it's annoying - You can not make any changes or do anything else but use the phone - maybe it's a built in bluetooth limitation - I don't know - I thought that it would be resolved in the software but maybe not enough of us tell the company about it.

Delete the phone from the car and use a bluetooth earpiece?

If it's vital, the caller will leave a message. We don't encourage our drivers to use blue toot. They can catch up on calls when they stop...having said that I use it. "Don't do as I do, do as I say"😏

So have your company setup screen time to limit apps? If not there’s no way to disable CarPlay. What if you use another cheap iPhone for maps and Bluetooth for calls.

Is it possible to use one Satnav on the display (like Waze) and another on the phone (Google Nav)?
Mount the phone where you can see it.
My old Android phone wouldn't connect to the car at all but my new one seems much better however I haven't tested it much yet.
I've always used the phone as my satnav and had it mounted with a magnetic holder on the air vent. It keeps the display for car and radio stuff.

With an iPhone you can have 2 or more navigating at the same time but they all only show the map on the car’s screen the phone screen just shows worded directions for each app. You can easily switch which one is displayed on the car’s screen though.
