It's Blowin' A Hoolie Oot There!

Rolfe! Been a while.

Good to see you back Rolfe, hope you’re well.

Thanks to both of you. I had an annoying virus - not so bad but it kept coming back for another bite. Then when I was feeling better I was strong-armed into writing an article.

Sorry to hear about your garage and fence, Archev. I must photograph my damage (tree down, slight damage to conservatory) on the off-chance I decide to file an insurance claim.

If you do don’t expect rapid attention they’re run off their feet with claims. I’ve covered the garage roof with a tarpaulin. I fell though the roof whilst fitting it tearing my ear in the process 🤐. Then spent a happy hour sat on my butt picking shattered glass from the greenhouse out of the grass and borders and gravel. I’ve filled two buckets so far but I’ve got to get it pristine before Ruby the four pawed Spangle visits. Then I got some walking exercise transferring my power tools etc from garage to summer house. Next job was a bit of food shopping so I hit Tesco, charged the car while on my store wander, and finished up with a very fine baked potato in the cafe.
I was not a fan of Eowyn !!

I have a Scots pine to get removed (local lad who "does trees" coming to take a look on Wednesday) and the conservatory doors to be repaired or replaced. It's the doors that might make it worth a claim, but I'll need some photographic proof of what happened. A couple of panels fell right out, but I have them stopped with old pillows for now. Also a handrail I had fitted for my mum when she was alive was destroyed, maybe I should get that replaced too.

You got off lightly ;) For those who didn't live in the South during the 1987 hurricane, this is what you missed...

We've had a lot of that here too - fortunately not with us.

In other news, I have a 1.2L petrol manual 5-speed Corsa as a courtesy car ... feels weird having to use my left foot again. 😂

And the noise. And putting fuel in again. And the snail like pace. etc etc etc
Enjoy the Corsa. 😉🙂👍

I was in the south of England in 1987, but Hertfordshire missed the brunt of it. I had friends in Sussex who lost power for a fortnight.

Nevertheless, those photos resemble my garden until this afternoon when the tree was sawn up and taken away for firewood.

What's the story with sending the wind and cold over here. Had to go and find long pants, socks and jumper it's that cold .... dropped to 17*C ...... freezing I tell ya ..... and the wind has forced me to finish the awning fitting job so I can install the anti flapper kits ..... 18ft x 8 ft tarp gets quite a "woop" up under it and rocks the motorhome like there was a lot of excitement happening inside ..... unfortunately, it just rocking from side to side that disturbed a good nights sleep ;)

Gladly swap temperature with you sir. I’ve a hearty 2 of those centigrades blowing in the wind here just now (midday)
17 would be almost a heatwave 🤩🤩

It got worse, it dropped to 15°C and we had to turn the reverse cyle air con on for the first time since Oct .... but the sun is back out today and warming the place up again .... thankfully, now I can go back to complaining about the heat ;)

"reverse air conditioning"

Here in the UK we use the aircon about 6 days per year.

That will either improve and make it a much more useful appliance, or the Atlantic recirculation currents will stop and you'll get even colder over there ..... or it's all a massive hoax and the weather will remain as unpredictable as ever ..... if either of the first two are correct, it's gunna get even hotter over here ..... if the third one is correct, then we are going through an incredibly long climate cycle.
Each yr the average temp is higher than the yr before and we are in the deepest drought for this time of yr since records began back in 1900 .....

It dropped to single digits early hrs this morning .... well, early for me anyway, around 5 am, that's right, 9°C .... and it's still technically summer ..... so, I know I said I'd share some of the warm from over this side .... but we didn't want any of your cold in exchange, send it back to the poles or the USA or something .......

Looking good!

Ours is a twin of yours (even tinted at the rear) and was shiny for a few hours after I cleaned it yesterday.

Unfortunately, our resident pigeon population have already sullied it as of this afternoon.
Unfortunately ERO is no longer tinted at the rear (screen). :( The repair shop ordered parts based on the VIN and it seems a clear screen was issued. (I'd even mentioned to them that they should order the screen for a 2022 Trophy model - but their systems/insurance requirements mean that they need to order based on the VIN).

Thankfully the lack of rear screen tint is not that obvious, and it did seem to give a better rear view via the mirror when I drove it home this morning.
