It's Blowin' A Hoolie Oot There!

Obviously, car insurance claim for the MG4

I'm not so sure!

The "damage" was caused by those ridge tiles falling from the house. So, shouldn't the House Insurance "cover" it? If tiles had fallen and damaged a neighbour's car that would surely mean a House Insurance claim? Is is any different if it is one's own car that is damaged?

Also, I suspect that, in the event of a claim, the potential increase in premium for future car insurance might be rather more than that for house insurance!

Yep, possibly. Like you say, if the tiles had damaged a neighbour's car, it would've been a different matter. But they didn't. So I'm only presuming here, he's got protected NCB.
just claim of the car insurance, no problems. As for the house, not really much damage at all, and as he's got a neighbour who's a roofer, wouldn't take him an hour, to do it. Job done. Hardly worth claiming for the house at all. 🙂
Hopefully he'll tell us, how he's sorting it. 👍

I've already filed a car insurance claim ... it's just simpler.

And I have only 1 year NCB, so any premium increase in June should hopefully be offset by the general decrease seen in recent premiums.

Had a similar issue during a previous storm, neighbours roof tiles blew off and smashed our garage roof. The irony being had the car been in the garage and not on the drive it would have been damaged as well.

I had to claim on our house insurance even though it was the neighbours house that caused the damage.Maybe if it had been a car claim the neighbours insurance would have to pay?

Why did you have to claim on your insurance? Thought it would've been pretty straightforward to claim of your neighbours insurance. 🤔

Didn't want to push the issue with them and it wasn't that expensive, however, THEY have set the precedent so if anything form our house damages anything of theirs they will be treated how they treated us.

Ouch that’s nasty I feel your pain My garage and fence fell victim to those winds. Everything’s a bit of a mess. I don’t think the car is damaged but I need a double garage roof and about six or seven fence panels. A couple of bags of post Crete and some greenhouse glass I think might also come in handy.
I wasn’t keen to go out and check as the hoolie was blowing fine with stuff flying all over. Gonna be busy in the next few days.

1metre x 0.7metre solid cement fibre ridge cappings landed at the rear of the car and a full sheet of 25 mm particle board came flying over the street and landed on the driveway in front of the car. The car is unscathed.
8 or 9 1,8metre square fence panels destroyed and the greenhouse has its glass shattered all over the garden ( can I hoover it up ?). The frame of the greenhouse is warped where a couple of the fence panels crashed in to it.

Trying to second guess the randomness and lottery of mother nature is by all accounts going to be a future game for everyone . :(

Well, that's ERO away on the back of a wagon, on its way to the repairers.

I've emailed the repairers to make them aware that mine has (had) a tinted rear windscreen rather than a clear screen as per the standard spec.

Hope all goes well mate, how long do you expect to be without it?
