EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

it can detect
I had time to test it today. And simply said, neither Lane departure assist nor Emergency Lane Keeping recognizes the double solid lane markers.
So either none of the mg4's can do it, or it is simply an issue with my specific car.
Ah.. don't believe everything you read on the Internet ;). Says "Just off Parramatta Rd, Sydney showing a double white solid line down the middle of the road."
I suppose I should not say "that's still UK";)

Then the question is especially for you guys down under. Not from UK.

Nooo... don't say that on here... @Coulomb will be along to edit you!!!
BTW we have double lines like that too - I was just musing that we don't have those blue skies!

We don't have blue skies either. We have those meteorologists promissing sunshine within three days. But they repeat that prediction every day for last three months....

So if you have those markers in the UK as well, any idea if it works? I mean, this is about the most important marker the stupid system SHOULD recognize..

Apart from that, it also still fails a dashed lane marker on the outside of a two directions single lane.

Other then that, the biggest difference is even less force from the steering. It does not seem to be more accurate at all. So all in all a lot softer and a bit smoother.

At the weekend when I still had the ICE Corsa courtesy car, I noticed that its LKA was a bit twitchy on faster country roads which had no lane markings ... wanting to direct me away from the side of the road so as to drive in the middle of both "lanes". (The road was wide enough for 2 cars to pass without running a wheel onto the verges). So it's not just the MG4 LKA which can be annoying. :)

True. This is a generic issue. But basically it underlines that despite multiple sensors these system are not smart enough to replace a human beeing.

They are 'aids' not human replacements, just like brakes, they also need human imput but they aid the human to stop the car. LKA was never designed to replace a human being in the drivers seat.

My mg4 SE 51kWh had its first annual service yesterday (Ireland). No specifics about modules/version of software updates, but a note confirmed 'recall s/w update carried out'.
LKA is now vastly improved.

To the extent that LKA is now a help rather than a nuisance. Early days, though.
Today I did 350km on motorways and city roads. LKA beeped and nudged when it should, impeccable manners.
Pre-update, it was a nuisance.

Today I brought in mine for a full update, including this LKA one.
The mechanic asked if I had any issues. Apparently he hadn't read the list yet, but one of the things I mentioned was that any of the three modes properly recognize double solid lane markers. Like these:

He said: no MG does this.

I interpreted his remark as "no MG4 does this", because I know the ZS does, the MG5 does, and now the EHS as well (spare car today).

Do you recognize what the mechanic said?
Just checked on my mg4 and they are detected and obeyed just fine. Of course as long as the ELK/LDP/TJA systems are armed and active (i.e. green line markings symbol in the dash)

Had the update on Tuesday, LKA is much better, would have been great if the eCall software update had not bricked the FCIM so now no eCall or app access until dealer gets FCIM and replace it. However GOM now reckons my standard range SR can do 350 miles on a full charge...............

I’ve just been called by my dealership and told there’s a recall on the LKA software module.
Does this mean they’re taking this issue seriously?

Is your trophy a new one (after June 2024)? You also have the update SC077?

I just tested Lane Assist during 120Km in Spain (car shipped this month), and it works delightfully well.

Also I was impressed by the semi autonomous driving experience. That's more than just "semi". I barely get to drive at all.

Has anyone (who's had the update) tried out TJA? Does it improve that too?
Marked improvement, especially at highway speeds where you are even able to make the car "de center" inside the lane with a small pressure on the steering wheel.

Before it would just "snap off" and "snap on".

They also definitely added a smoothing filter to the steering wheel input which has its pros (less twitching) and cons (delayed response in sharp turns, so it may drift to the lane markings on its own). It seems they also increased the max allowed steering wheel angle before disconnecting the auto steer to allow handling tighter turns at higher speeds.

The braking behaviour is also improved when approaching slower cars, now it is relying less on on/off brake action and more on smooth long braking (i.e. it stars braking earlier).

Overall it's a 2.0 version, or more likely what a 1.0 should have been to begin with

Mine is one of the early ones (march 23) just after they removed the driver IR sensor. Truth be told it had always had a good camera and sensor calibration out of the factory.

It only has the mandatory updates applied including SC0077

Thanks. You think calibration causes this? Wouldn't that influence more than just these markers?
