MG4 Undertray dip/bulge

How'd it go, DaevM?
No problem. They knew it was coming. A quick discussion and handed the .pdf kindly supplied by @siteguru over. Went to collect after the service and they said yup, no problem. I was their first and they'll give me a call when the part's in.
Also complimented me on the black MG badges and fangs ( red car) , Said it looked really good and it was the first time they'd seen them. 10/10 for customer service 😂😁👍

Holy sh!t.
I'm still engaged in what nearly amounts to open warfare here. In the time i've spent 'communicating' with various MG folk to no avail, i could have mined the ore, smelted, cast, rolled, tempered, cut (hacksaw), drilled, cleaned, polished, plated (in my own made-up chem bath) and fitted both a new undertray AND the stiffening plate. I could have made the damn bolts, too.
Jesus.
Well done you, I'm proper envious.

Whereabouts are you ? I'm down in the pointy rnd of Cornwall, possibly last UK MG dealer before the Atlantic. It's the middle of winter, so quiet, not a lot going on. I csn imagine it being a bit of an issue if it's big city busy possibly.
Presumably they can't argue with the MG directive pdf at the dealership 🤔

Click on their location. ;)

Turn your phone to landscape if you can't see it. :)

So I called into my local mg dealership in Bury St Edmunds to get someone to look at my drooping undertray, I got the guy I didn't want, talks at 100 mph, had to ask him to slow down, my hearing not 100% + tinnitus, he asked where I'd heard about the problem, on the MG forum I told him, he's said, I don't go on the forums it contaminates the information, when I said I have a photo of the undertray, he wouldn't look at it, nor would he venture off his ar*e and look under the car, saying he didn't want to disrespect his technicians, he had never heard of the problem and if I wanted them to look at it I'd have to book it in for a full day, as we have 68 cars a day going through the workshops, so can't interrupt the flow, and if they found it was not a warranty issue I would be charged £160, at this point I just wanted to escape, so I booked it in and made for the exit.
That is disgusting service from the dealer. I'd complain to the head office. Last year I complained to the head office that my local dealer never answered the phone and if they did they'd promise a call back, which never happened.

This year, they now answer the phone and are proactive regarding the CCU charging fault asking to inspect the car before the date it was booked in so the paperwork can be raised with MG, and they inspected the undertray.

Yes I suppose I should, but I don't want to burn any bridges at this stage, if I have no joy with the other dealer in Diss I will need a dealership for any warranty work and maybe updates. I have an EV specialist guy in Duxford who is able to do the MG servicing in line with the MG warranty,(no software updates)probably lose the mg assist, but I've always been with green flag and they're cheap enough for basic cover.
Not that bothered about updates, my car has ancient software 1100R13 but I have no major problems with it and I don't want to risk uploading a raft of bugs with any update. So I'll see how it goes on Monday, and take it from there.

So today I took my car in to Desira MG in Diss for a while you wait appointment, to inspect my rear undertray, which they agree needs the modification, and they've ordered the Meccano bracket, and have booked the car on for 11th march, and the nice lady on reception said while it was in for that they would also do the 'recall update SC077' without me even mentioning it! And she said they would have done it today, but it'll take 2 or 3 hours.
I also asked her for a quote for the second service and she told me it would be £130 or £140 ( I was so taken back it was so low, that I can't remember exactly the amount) I wonder now if she's made a mistake, Rawlinson in Bury St Edmunds quoted me £295 definitely remember that!
Only drawback I can see is that they don't do any courtesy cars, no biggy for me, can get the train home if I want or spend the day wandering around Diss.

Excellent result methinks.

Brilliant result and how every dealer should go about their business👍

A quarter of that £130-140 will be for a new cabin air filter that takes around 30 seconds to fit.

For those wondering, it took the mechanic 25 minutes to fit the bracket. Assuming he worked non-stop between the dashcam videos of the car going up, and later coming down, on the hoist.

Considering he then spend another 7 minutes to wipe down his bench top and talking to his neighbour, I'm guessing it is a 15 minute job. It does look tidy though, for what it is of course.
