Crash due to Lane keep assist.

I’m not proud of it, but I have timed it 😵‍💫
My particular ‘ignition sequence’ takes 7 taps in 8 seconds. Assuming 100% accuracy on the taps. My wife has it down to 12 seconds. (She hasn’t had the ‘game console’ time I’ve had 😂

I also find it gives me a quiet few seconds to take a moment before heading out. I’m less likely to back straight into an unopened garage door 👍

Actually ten seconds for me. I'm a sad person.

The challenge has been set. Can you beat our current record holder?

Wil Tryharder's Wife: 12 seconds

Rolfe: 10 seconds

Wil Tryharder: 8 seconds
With what other car would you get the challenge set of let's see who can turn off the crap not fit for purpose safety systems the fastest😂😂

Yet another unique selling point of the MG 4

My time is about 5 seconds tops ... and that includes swiping down the screen, tapping the LDP On toggle, tapping Confirm, then swiping back up ... all whilst driving. :)

(I rarely ever turn off LKA when starting driving - I only do it if the road conditions mean LKA is being annoying),

You have the swipe down. Not everyone has it.

As the main screen boot up time can vary you can rig this in different ways...
Warm start - you leave the car, lock it and return within 5 minutes (tends to boot faster)
Pre condition start - the computers are already awake so boot time tends to be faster.
Just off charge start - the main screen is already on so you just have to press the brake pedal to engage the HV systems.

My routine form cold start, is
From the HVAC screen - which is the first screen displayed
Press home button
Press vehicle icon
press MG Pilot tab
Press deactivate toggle
Press confirmation message

I have the swipedown but I wasn't using it because I turn the speed limit detection off at the same time. The ten seconds was to get both off.
To be honoust: I too disable speed detection. But I do set LKA to alert, and I cancel the beep as well.

Deep down, I think this is my real issue with driver aids:

I like to drive my cars not be driven by them.
I think the ideal combination is a car that does nothing when you want to drive the car yourself, say on a nice road trip, but fully autonomous for the boring stuff like slow moving city driving. (Or maybe the other way around for some people, not here to judge :p)

Edit; although maybe sometimes I wish other cars would “help” their drivers stay in their lanes, or honour a right of way… maybe self driving cars would be better for some, but then again everybody always has a blind spot for their own faults so maybe self driving cars are just not that bad an idea safety wise… it would be a boring future though

A bit rich is making an assumption because we all know how that turns out!!

Just because your LKA works doesn't mean everyones does and the fact over two years in it's still not rectified for everyone speaks volumes.

Back to the assumption bit I have driven an MG4 on numerous occasions and if you have read any of my previous posts you would have known my wife has one as a company car, has done for a year, and it is currently one of 3 ev's sitting on my drive so I have a direct comparison of various versions of the system from various manufacturers and it is the worst!!

[Gratuitous snark deleted.]
My son has a Tesla it has the same system yes it lets you know when you wander from the straight and narrow but like the mg4 indicating cancels it out. My BMW only activates Lka over 40mph. I’ve traded this in for a Trophy which I get on Monday and I can’t wait.

The wife complained about the constant beeping .... so on one occasion I didn't turn LKA off .... in only a few kms she complained there was something wrong with the steering, it keeps jerking in her hands, so I turned LKA off and the beeping started up .... Naturally, I was to blame for setting something up incorrectly ...... I explained the steering problem was related to the car trying to stay in the lane, when I turned that off, the audible warning tells you that you are wandering over the white lines ...... there was a short silence, but I couldn't help myself, I told her the car is just telling you that you are a crap driver, then I told her to try yelling at it and telling it to F off like you do when I mention it ;) :ROFLMAO: ..... Have I told you how much I love this MG4
