EU MG4 (all variants) - Service campaign SC077 is out, improving lane assist performance

It finally feels like the car is as it should have been at launch, 2.5 years later. Mind you took VW the same time to properly fix the ID.3.
When buying mine 2.5 years ago and researching other makes, it was clear that VW/ID had taken years to get their cars sorted, so was half expecting a similar timescale with the MG. Expecting a fully sorted car with zero issues at launch is IMHO unrealistic (it would be nice though).

A lot of the dealers don't help themselves, but I suspect that comes down from MG/China.

I got SC077 this morning. On the way there and back I drove with both LKA and TJA on so I could directly compare before and after ... they are both much improved after SC077. :)

LKA is much more of a nudge than a yank, and TJA seems to hold the lane (and recognise the lane too) much better and with far less twitching of the wheel.
Does it recognize crosswalk as a solid line like other cars with TJA (no line at both sides)?

For example 😂

Crosswalk? Ah, you mean Pavement. (A crosswalk in the UK - in my eyes - is a pedestrian crossing point). ;)

Yes, I've noticed mine picking up the road edge/pavement border as a solid line ... exactly as I would expect. :)

I took mine in this morning to have the corrective support bar fitted to the lower guard, and the garage (Perkins, Rayne) said they wanted to install a further software update at the same time "to reduce the LKA impact". They had upgraded to R63 in December and, following my LKA moanings, they said they had also reduced the sensitivity as low as it would go (presumably somewhere within the engineers' menu?). However I found that LKA was a little better, but not much - although the new swipe-down menu helps.

I wasn't sure what more they had done this time as I also didn't get any paperwork for either warranty job. To be frank, on trying the LKA driving home, I found it very little improved if at all - so maybe their first intervention was a manual version of the new upgrade? Also, I was previously unaware of the SC077 matter, and although I'm sure it is ref'd here somewhere, I can't quite find out anywhere what this is exactly and where one can check it on the car info. Any help pls?

This is the number of the UK update for LKA/ELK.

It is a service campaign update, it seems, so you will get it next time you have a service or other work done at an MG dealer, assuming you are in the UK.

I don't know if this is being used outside the UK or not, it was originally in response here to a VOSA case (ie UK vehicle standards).

You might have received this, you might not. Can you query with your dealer if you car received this update?

There could be dependencies on other updates, my car had extensive software updates on several issues across several dealer visits to solve other problems which may have helped LKA too. I am not sure.

Yes, I wasn't focused (although English is my my second language)

Mine is not recognize the road edge/pavement as a solid line (unless there is a solid line next to it). Its very annoying.

Ny dealer only did reprogram to the FDR, FVCM and EPS. But maybe they missed the config files.

If the new versions recognize the edges as solid line i would order VNCI to install the config files.

Not a full update. But you can click on the home button, swipe from right to left, chose setting and then system (I think). There you will see a couple of specs of the software. If you see r46, r59 or r63, you will have a broad indication of the most recent updates.
Thanks! We actually bought the car and they will do the update before delivery.

I actually noticed this today driving to/from the shops ... the lane divider was being picked up as a dashed line, and the road edge/pavement border was mostly being picked up as a solid line (but not continuously).

Thank you. I will ask them; they've been very forthcoming so far. And from a PM I've received, apparently my car has had EPS and FDR (Final Drive Ratio?) updates so it sounds like it. Just need a bit more elaboration.

I get so confused with all these horrid acronyms!

So having fallen out with my previous dealer after 2 services I took my SE SR to a different MG dealer on Tuesday for it's 45,000 mile service.

When I went to pick it up I asked them to confirm that the service campaign LKA update had been carried out and the reply after consultation with the technician was yes it's all done.

Drove down to London from Yorkshire yesterday and thought the LKA was no different to before. Asked @nanomad (many thanks!) to check my VIN and below is his answer -

Last update was done on 2023-09-01 when they did SC47 and SCUK001 (the old EVCC, FDR and BCM update).

What is it with dealers that they believe it is perfectly acceptable to lie to customers?

I went in prepared and already had a screenshot showing that SC077 was applicable to my car and had the argument with them before leaving the car. I had made it clear I would go elsewhere if they did not guarantee to install the warranty update.

They did install it but have failed miserably to record the service on MG's system (I emailed MG to ask them to provide the service history for the car).

Called the garage again and advised MG can not see any record of my car being serviced and asked if they would please update the records and told them I would be checking with MG again next week to confirm it has been done.

The fact it's so hard to check anything, as a consumer, is a step backwards IMO. At least when we had books with stamps in there was no question over service history records.

So no stamps in the UK either? Although these stamps will not tell us anything about details of service campaigns...
No its all computerised. They won't, but it would give peace if mind that your warranty remains valid.

I'll certainly be keeping receipts to prove i had the car serviced.

I honestly think some of these dealers need to be named and shamed, or at least taken to account on these forums. I'm not suggesting slander, and one always needs concrete evidence for complaints ... then 'the truth without' is only fair to others, who need to know who they might avoid. At the same time, praise where due is equally fair to all, and should be equally promoted, in my mind.

I vowed never to return to the dealer who sold me my car (Glyn Hopkin, Chelmsford) because of the duplicitous behaviour and (blatant written) prevarication of the salesman - just to get that all-important signature. I'm too old for confrontation these days, so my view is, don't have a row with them, just walk away, then they only have themselves to live with (and he said he would be phoning me after a couple of years to see what deal he could make for me next!).

I had no experience of GH's service people, so did quite a lot of research here before finally deciding to go elsewhere - due to similar experiences received from others who had tried their servicing. Thus, I now go happily to Perkins near Braintree (only about 10 minutes of enjoyable cross-country driving further) because of their pro-active attention to getting things right, from basic servicing to reading/listening to nag-lists, and to updating software whenever due and without question. (Incidentally, they are a long-standing traditional small village garage, who have dropped their MG dealership (just kept Ford!), and now only service and sell used MGs.)

On a positive note I highly recommend Chiswick MG in London. Been happily using them for almost 3 years, first with my MG5 FL now with my MG4 Trophy.
