I am thinking of getting an MG3 hybrid, however the problem I face is that my current car covers around 3 to 4k miles a year. Sometimes I do not use the car for a week, other times it may be short trip to the shops I do hear horror stories about the 12 volt battery on the Toyota Yaris and was wondering if people had a similar problem with the MG or whether I should avoid hybrids. I took one for a test drive and liked it.

With that mileage my advice would be to go pure electric.

The car will cost you pennies to run if you can plug in at home.

There are some good small electric vehicles out there now if the MG4 is too big for your needs.

I don't know if MG3 will ever be pure EV but it's not much smaller than MG4. (I think)

I would love to go full electric but with no means to charge my car at home I would be relying on public charging. Around here that is 75 to 85p per kwh. That would be more expensive than petrol.

I can't see your location but you might have a Tesla Supercharger near you?

With that mileage it would be very achievable.
You might only have to change up once a fortnight.

I too, am unable to charge at home as I am off grid.

I've done 13000 miles in the last 15 months using almost exclusively a Tesla Supercharger 18 miles away.

No problem at all. 👍

Oh and forgot to add its 34ppKw

Our MG3 Hybrid will only cover around 4000-5000 miles a year. Some weeks it will only travel a couple of miles to the shops. It's never been a problem left standing unused, only in the winter, the brake pads occasionally 'stick' but this is to be expected and isn't an issue. I never had any problems starting it, and I've done nothing 'special' to care for the battery. Our previous car was a Hybrid Jazz, which we traded in after 4 years this has only 8500 miles on the clock, it was probably better built but very expensive to purchase. We prefer the MG3!

Whilst in my first year of ownership my mileage is higher than usual at around 5,000 miles in 10 months, generally my usage tends to be more in line with what you are talking about and I've not had any issues.
