What are all your steps do commence DC charging? Do you come to the DC charger, hop out of the car, lock the car, then unlock the car, press the flap to open it, then plug the DC cable into the car and then start charging ?

Park at DC charger, get out of car, open charging flap, lock car, connect DC charger and start charging by swiping RFID card.

Check charging has started, open tailgate, get dog out, shut tailgate, take dog for a walk returning after about 30 minutes.

Open tailgate, put dog in car, shut tailgate, swipe RFID card to stop charging, unlock car, unplug charger, get in car and drive off.

Ok good steps

Need to add if a Tritium DC charger, check plugshare and app multiple times then pray it working when you get there :)

I did have a 4 out of 4 strike rate on weekend with Evie ones so that was good.

I’ll have to get a dog😂

Further to my earlier post about getting a trailer:

I've been busy doing heaps of loads for our home move, plus one to the tip today, another tomorrow. More than a dozen loads so far.

Car has handled it all very well. Me not so much! I'm a bit knackered and sore.

After one drop off I arrived to some roos lazing on the front grass:

Love your Roos - beats the heck out of my solitary hedgehog 🤣🤣

Not an unusual sight when strolling the streets in any suburb with a bit of adjoining bush to see roos grazing up the sides of the road and in front yards .... just keep an eye out for the one that's not grazing, eyeballing you and looks like he has been on steroids and works out everyday ..... they are his girls he's guarding them, no one takes on a roo like that and walks away .......

Are the quills on a hedgehog as sharp on the tips as an Echidna? I stupidly attempted to move one off the middle of the road outside our house ..... only make that mistake once o_O  I didn't think the finger tips would ever stop bleeding

Very rarely see the hedgehog and we never get in each other’s way. He does the night shift slug and snail patrol so our paths rarely cross. My Daughter’s dog Ruby has encountered him a couple of times but hasn’t been close enough to bring back any evidence of encounter. She barks, hedgehog ignores and bumbles on foraging, I attempt to shout in whispers to recall the dog without disturbing any neighbours, a couple of other dogs sometimes give acknowledging barks and we all settle back down while the slug massacre goes on silently until dawn.
I’ve seen a fox checking out the street occasionally but that’s about it since the last Tyrannosaurus passed by en-route to extinction. The oil refinery along the road is about to follow the coal mine along that very same path. Even the coal burning power station across the river has gone. whilst the invasive EVs slowly pop up here and there even in this historical and staunchly fossil fuelled environment.
I wonder if the hedgehog appreciates the improving air ?

My daily trailer loads continue. Economy is taking an expected hit, and because of the change of routine I've been charging overnight rather than during the day when it's uber cheap.

Sold some furniture to a young couple who just got keys to their first house yesterday, so I ran that down to them this morning. Cruising on the freeway no issues. 150 km, left at 100%, ended at 44%.

I think we'll have saved about $2k in removals costs by the time this project is done, which pays for the trailer which will have utility for many years to come. Still have the removal crew coming this week to do all the furniture and large items. At $240/hour the less they have to do the better and this ensures they can complete the job in a day.

Happiness is a trailer 🤩
I always had a towbar and kept a trailer whilst I was working. I retired when Covid locked everything down and bought an MG ZS and a year or so later an MG5 neither of which could be fitted with a towbar. So I sold the trailer and the Thule type goods / bike carrier frame.
Now I’ve gone back to a Citroen Berlingo - electric this time but able to tow, and wish I’d kept the bar, the frame and the trailer- they were really handy sometimes 🙄

A towbar is on the list of upgrades for the 51, if the '06 Prius can tow a reasonably loaded trailer, I see no reason the MG4 51 couldn't ...... and it will give me a spare support bar for behind the rear bumper to put on the silver MG4 51 when that gets back on the road .....

Interesting only one chain, over this side it's always 2 chains.
Don't work too hard mate, remember the tortoise and the hare.
Light tr so one chain ok so long as if trailer comes adrift the chain keeps the trailer from hitting the road then it won’t pole volt on to car roof.

Keep in mind the MG4 has a 500 kg tow limit, so it's only for light duty. My trailer is tare 232 kg, leaving 268 kg for loads. It still enables us to do quite a lot fortunately.

Took another snap today, this time of the car with the roos in the background:

Great pic. You've got Roos and probably other nature in your garden. 🙂👍

I’m calculating about 23 kWh/100km then if my maths serves me, this is 1.44 times the base consumption of my MG4 so (based on numbers I’ve generated over the years towing trailers with my Hilux) it is better than the 1.6x increase I usually got with a diesel ute. I’m impressed but not surprised.
