it is better than the 1.6x increase I usually got with a diesel ute. I’m impressed but not surprised.
Begs the question, why aren't you surprised??????
An increase in drag, is an increase in drag. If these are the same, then the same amount of energy is needed to overcome the extra drag.
So why is the MG4 more efficient, at overcoming the extra drag
Sorry I can't get my head around this.

My Ute was usually pulling a dual axle trailer carrying a couple of 500kg steers, so working hard. That the MG can pull a trailer and only have a 1.4 magnitude decrease in efficiency tells me that ICE v EV pulling efficiencies are not too dissimilar. ICE drivers imo tend not to look into the efficiency of their vehicles when towing, just accepting ‘she’s gonna use a bit more juice’.

Yeah the increase in energy consumption has been pretty reasonable all things considered.
I’ve thought all along that if ICE vehicles had a % fuel gauge , they might have a more realistic appraisal of their vehicle’s efficiency. That , coupled with the ridiculous idea that an electric motor can’t pull anything compounds the delusion.

Great pic. You've got Roos and probably other nature in your garden. 🙂👍
I've got the neighbours Cat, Shitting in mine. 🤬
Too much sand in your soil ...... use the South Australian method of stopping the cat using your garden as a litter ..... rocks, they get real hot in summer and the cat looks for somewhere cooler and easier to dig ;) 💩 If you place a litter tray in your front yard ..... the cat won't come near the place, if it doesn't use the one at home, it's certainly not going to use a public restroom

Suppose in lancs you have black pudding as I have black snakes once or twice a year.
We have brown snakes as the majority rule over here. I do remember the death adders though, they were something else ....... if it wasn't Sydney funnel Webs in the leaf litter, it was death adders, the yellow belly black snake couldn't wait to get away and was only an issue if you stepped on it or cornered it .... certainly gave you enough reason to keep the lawn mowed ;) and always use the grass catcher, nothing like a very annoyed snake coming out of the grass shoot to get the heart rate up

That was Scotty from marketing if I remember correctly. He said that about the same time as a video was posted of a Tesla towing a jumbo jet.
Electric motors convert electric energy into motive force in most trains, I’ve been on two ships in the last few years that are state of the art Azopod electric steer/drives and one was 300,000t displacement…all from motors with minimal moving parts.

When I was a kid the milk floats did ok on electric all year round that’s 60+ years ago.

My Volkswagen golf spacesaver arrived from SA to Brisbane, hopefully it will fit my car, will have to take it to a tyre shop to get them to install it to the car to see if it fits properly.

I have ordered an Essense 64 Blue in Brisbane. Anyone know if there are delays in sourcing these (dealer cannot seem to get one in). I presume when I leave with it it will have all the latest software updates. Is this corrrect? Thanks. Any other tips (I will watch the pick-up check videos).

I know MG Wangara had heaps in stock, just took a few days because they had to get them from a lot by the truck load, and your colour had to be on the truck (bit of luck involved). Then on the other hand John Hughes took forever to deliver @Wizard of Oz their car, so long they ended up settling for a different colour if I remember correctly.

In terms of software, I have been told by Wangara MG they do all available updates as part of scheduled service, or specific modules if there are issues. My car came up-to-date as far as I know, but I can't tell you if they did updates before delivery.

It'll be worth checking the plastic cover underneath the car, roughly near the rear axle. They can display bulging, which can be straightened with a special bracket. This gets done under warranty, but the bulge may develop after you take delivery.

Also, congrats on the car, and welcome to the forum!

Do any of you put the car off completely before charging at a DC fast charger? I.e arrive at a DC charger (car still on) go and plug in and start charging? The manual says to shut down the car wait 10 secs then commence charging.

I have the same space saver and I can report it does fit. I jacked up the car and fitted it to make sure.

I just pull up, get out the car and plug in. I guess it could be about 10 seconds or more between getting out of my seat and starting a charge, but I've never shut the whole car down first.

ok good to know, so you must have been doing this for a while, so I assume it is safe for me to do this as well.
