New MG4 coming? (merged)

Yeah the BMC / Leyland brand MGs only started with the 1100 / 1300 cars I think. My dreams of a Minor MG were probably the reason the crankshaft broke - mind you it carried on (clanking painfully) for quite a few miles before I dropped the sump and replaced the shaft. Those were the days. Couldn’t afford new so pulled the replacement out of a scrap car behind Lamb’s garage in Banchory and scraped together enough to buy new bearing shells.
It never did become the MG of my dreams though 🤩
Those A series were pretty tough. All the ones I drove did well over 100K miles with no complaints. Not like these modern eco-boom type power plants!
Other brands are available.....

Grannymobile...holy hell! And who approved that tail light design??

Too tame design, too low HP count...I hate it. Looks like a fake Citroen all bubbly wubbly. Yuck...

Oh, another thought...MG Mulan name worked. Where MG dropped the ball is number 4. If they also renamed it in China to MG4...I'd reckon the sales numbers fell after renaming. Number 4 is a no no in China, because it sounds like the word for death and is considered unlucky.

Could be worse over here then. Could be Number 2. Now that would be Shit. 🙄🙂

Found these on the XPower owners pages on Facebook which makes me prefer the old body shape even more

My 2nd car was a rust bucket 1300 (1st was a mini). I've still got 2 pairs of brake shoes in the garage if anyone wants them .
I'm sure they'll come in useful one day but I'll have to dig them out from all the other potentially useful stuff in the garage. 🤣

Yep, don't throw owt away. Might come in useful one day. (Not) 🙄 I've been havin a tidy/de-clutter, recently. And you've just gotta be ruthless. No, ah but, this might,
or ah but, that might. Just sling um. You will feel better afterwards. Promise ya. 🙂👍

I had some mk1 excort front indicators that have been sat in various garages for 35 years, both had chips out of the lenses, I managed to sell them on ebay for £50, result.

Result! You'll always get the odd, instance
like that. But mostly it's just rubbish that gets hoarded. You've got to draw the line somewhere. And say enoughs, enough. 🙂👍

Aye but what about the vitally useful stuff like the pair of plastic protectors to deflect gravel and salt spray from where the sill meets the rear wheel arch on the Austin Maestro turbo diesel to protect against rust ?
They’re brand new, never fitted and I no longer have the car - I took too long waiting to fit them ……

Oh, but they went like SOAS, didn't they!

Re rubbish in the garage, I have sold loads of stuff on eBay over the years. The stuff I thought would sell didn't and the stuff I thought was rubbish went for top dollar. Can't work it out!

I think I've got a pair of bonnet locks for a Triumph Herald in their original Standard Triumph box somewhere in the "this might come in useful" depository aka garage.
