EV adoption ramping up.

Now that's the sort of thing we all dreamed about when watching Thunderbirds and Captain Scarlett many years ago. Not much use here, on the approach path for Brive airport and competing with low flying Rafales , ( military training area for the Army de la air ) we are not allowed to fly drones of any description, never mind what ever that was? o_O

They’re grossly inefficient, have very little payload capability, very short duration and can’t autorotate like a helicopter can.
Apart from all of that and they’re dangerous, great idea.
They're basically drones with human cages 🙂

Play the video at 2X speed, how much fun do they look like now ;) More fun than a powered hang glider, microlight or auto-gyro (gyroplane or gyrocopter) ..... just landing it near a charging station might be a tad tricky, the other types do have a glide angle better than a brick, so that needs to be kept in mind :eek:o_O:poop::ROFLMAO:

You were selling it well until you mentioned “ brick” 😱

Gravity always wins.

There are old pilots and bold pilots, but, there aren't any old bold pilots.

Gravity isn't just a theory .... It's the Law ;)

That thing on the top of a helicopter is a fan to keep the pilot cool, they really start sweating when it stops

Aircraft don't crash, they just run out of air under the wings

You don't need a parachute to sky dive .... unless you want to do it a second time

If you ever want a plane flight that will make all other plane flights seem a bit "ah yeah but" ....... You need to go up in a Transavia Air Truck flown by a contract ag pilot ......

I'll set the picture, the passenger sits in the back of the fibreglass bug shaped body and looks backwards, behind you is a hopper that holds 1 ton of superphosphate, but the plane can either carry you in the back or the ton of super or a ton of spray chemical and the pump sits in the back where you are sitting.
Up front is a Continental flat 6 cyl that develops 350hp, the pilot virtually sits in top of that, and just back a bit.
It can take off in the length of the average house driveway and climb hanging on the prop. You can't see where you are going, but you can see what you are flying away from ...... like dive bombing the house of someone who p#ssed off the pilot at the pub the night before ....... at 6am and you have barely woken up after being called out at the last min to drive the aircraft loader ..... and you remember you were going drink for drink with the locals and the pilot that is up front .... and you don't feel well

You then remember that the very plane you are flying in is due for a service .... possibly over due, and you work some of your time assisting the engineer who signs the paperwork .... as in, you do the work, he does the paperwork ..... the rest of the time you are the mechanic that keeps all the fleet of trucks, tractors, air craft loaders, cars, small equipment use around the farm, the bucket loader and .... yeah, you are it really, you keep everything going ......

The next thing is a splutter and you aren't sure if the pilot is playing games and pulling a full lean burn or the twin plugs in one of the cyl is lead fouled ..... and you know the plane has a 30 deg glide angle into a head wind ..... if that motor stops .... at least you will see the sky as the last thing you remember ......

Here is what they looked like Google Search

April 2016 I had flight in a Eurocopter LN-OJF from an oil platform into Bergen. Whilst sat in departures waiting for a fixed wing flight back to the UK on the news was a report of a Helicopter Crash. On it's next flight, LN-OJF lost it's rotor head, the fuselage plummeted 2000' killing all onboard. I rang my boss and resigned from my job as ROV Senior Pilot / Technician, that was too close for me and I'm sure the pilots didnt have time to break out into a sweat!

Helicopter are awful aircraft, they should be avoided wherever possible, they have no inherent flying capability, they just beat the air into submission.

Been up in an autogyro that intestinally stalled the motor ...... just as we were about to meet the ground, the pilot pulled on the collector (I think that was what it was called) and the thing lifted slightly, then settled gently on the ground ...... I decided at about that point, I wanted a microlite
My error was saying to the pilot, after he said, this could be a bit scary, but I'll show you just how safe they are, *nothing could frighten me after sitting in the back of a Transavia Air Truk

T1 Terry

EDIT:
This is the rest of the story that goes with the previous post ......
*nothing could frighten me after sitting in the back of a Transavia Air Truk when the pilot was trying to chase the cattle off the air strip so he could land on the farmers "air strip" they later told me was known as the "fly on the wall" strip, and that was why the aircraft loader driver had rung in sick ... after he heard about the pilot being at the pub all night

Getting back to four wheels on the ground, I see there is new Nissan Leaf out.

The accompanying picture looked like a megane E-Tech. Reading on it seems that it is on the same platform as the Renault.

My Ohme charger was installed yesterday by OVO.
Last week the Berlingo was charging at around 4.5 p/mile and I had to regulate how much charge it took.
This morning it’s sitting ready out there at 85% charge at a cost of 2 p/mile AND the first 100 miles will be refunded each month.
Beautiful bright sunshine all around much of Scotland today. I’m very tempted to weed some garden ……
or drive a very fine ev for many miles at less than half what it cost yesterday and blow the savings on lunch somewhere.
I really can’t make up my mind 🤣

About time! for a long time convert as yourself. How is the 100 miles refunded? have they access to your odometer and can turn it back like a 80s dodgy car dealer?

I thought I might try to settle my score with the Wrynose/Hardknott pass road by I have to wait in for a workman coming.

I’ve a couple of guys starting the garage roof tomorrow hopefully. So I’ve just taken my 83 yo next door neighbour to Crieff for a plate of soup. He gave up driving a couple of months ago so I promised to give him a shout about a trip.

Just a thought - I’ve got a 16inch space saver from the MG5. I think Caliban has 17inch? I think this wheel might fit OK as a get you home - perhaps someone can confirm / deny ??
It’s complete with jack etc etc.
You’re welcome to borrow it for peace of mind on an attack at the pass if you want ?
