Since purchasing a 2nd hand MG4 LR Trophy 6 months ago, I have always had problems with charging.

Always seems to happen when using the Zappi home charger.

The car would randomly stop charging around 30 mins in most of the time... but sometimes charge fully with no issues.

I sent it back to MG to have the charging unit replaced, but the problem still appeared.

After reading online about scheduling issues, I turned that off and charging seemed to become reliable.

Recently I switched to Octopus Intelligent Go, still with the Zappi. So far, with all scheduling turned off on the Zappi and MG4, the car has not charged more than a couple of kWh before stopping the charge and saying its either complete or tripping the Zappi internal RCD.

I see there are lots of threads on here discussing this, but haven't come across a fix yet. Has anyone actually solved this?

Thanks ❤️

.... I've always just switched off the MG4 settings, and let the charger run the show (I have an Ohme pro - which has a 99% success rate at charging anytime of the day at 7p, approx 30 months into the MG4 )

You don't mention your Zappi eco settings. It should be set to eco+ on IOG and, as you say, no schedules set.
I had a problem charging on IOG a few weeks ago. When I contacted Octopus they told me they currently had a problem with Zappi integration and to set a schedule in the Zappi, for the cheap rate hours, during the meantime, then they would contact us when it was resolved. I set the schedule and that was good. Then IOG seemed to kick in again a few days later, no word from Octopus, so I left the schedule set in the Zappi and everything's worked since then.
Possibly not relevant to your problem.

It sounds like the issue may be the CCU (again!) - is yours a long range with no rear wiper?

Try doing the usual tests on other AC chargers, including the granny, and if it does the same then it is pointing to the CCU.

FWIW I've had zero issues on IOG with mine but mine is the SR so assuming you have all the settings correct it should work.

On my Zappi, I only have 2am to 5am scheduled charging and all set on eco+, so if the car is plugged in overnight then it charges between 2-5, and if plugged in during the day and enough solar then it charges on eco+ 100%

MG has no scheduled charges set.

As Tight Git said, try the Granny or a local 7kWh AC charger

Hi, what tariff are you on?

Don't have a Zappi but an Indra Smart Pro and do observe some oddities with charging on either Go or Intelligent Go ( switched after getting MG4).

With the MG4, I find if the charge starts after plugging in, all is fine.
However, if the start is delayed, the charging doesn't start.

To work around this, I have to schedule the MG4 to start charging when the charge window had begun.
This generally works but when the charge window is split sometimes it doesn't restart for the second window.

My wife's Kia Soul charges on Intelligent Go without issue.

No issues on our MG4 with IOG, just plug it in and Octopus will work out when the best time to charge, on ours you just tell it when to be ready by, and its always worked.
