I just bought a used MG4, which came installed with an aftermarket electric tailgate. My problem is that the tailgate isn’t opening fast enough and therefore gets stuck in the locking mechanism. The manual says that there are 6 different speed levels, but it doesn’t really explain how to change between them. Mine is set to Level 2, so I just want to increase it to see if this fixes the issue. Any ideas?

Assuming it came with a remote to open the boot, it looks like you just hold the button until it sounds (beeps or whatever) the corresponding number of times - 1 being slowest, 6 being fastest, and release once it’s made the number of sounds that match the speed you want.

Eg - 5x noises = speed 5 out of 6

I figured it out. It just takes longer than I thought. You need to press and hold, and after a couple of seconds, it will emit a long beep. You need to keep it pressed until it beeps again and again and again.... Count these long beeps (1 to 6), and when you let go, it will emit short beeps to indicate the currently selected level (e.g., 1 short beep = level 1, and so on). In my opinion, it’s a bit unintuitive because it takes quite a while. If you're experiencing the same issue, just be patient.
