The bad BMS only related to the earlier 455v version and was superseded by the new BMS at 450v.Wouldn't the bad BMS only give at best a 450v max voltage though, not 455v ?

If the car has only done 180 miles it needs to be driven and charged a few times. When I took delivery of my ZS it showed 132 miles at full charge in normal mode. After about 2 weeks of driving and charging cycles it was then showing just over 160 miles. It certainly does not have very high mileage it has only done 180 miles and it has only had 3 charges in total.
If it started to have issues then the voltage would start dropping below 455.Wouldn't the bad BMS only give at best a 450v max voltage though, not 455v ?
I was not not expecting you to say that!It certainly does not have very high mileage it has only done 180 miles and it has only had 3 charges in total.
Thanks I have paperwork showing the car was manufactured in 2021, other online checks. showed it entered the UK in April 2021 so not sat around very long. The day I picked it up it showed 163 miles. I'll keep checking and contact the dealer if necessary thanks.I was not not expecting you to say that!
You certainly should not have any battery degradation yet then!
I very much would guess that your car was manufactured some time ago - last year/not this year, otherwise it would have the new BMS which only charges to 450volts.
Maybe this is why it's not "sorted itself out yet", it's been sitting around for a long time and the battery needs a few cycles to sort it out???
Mine was showing 163miles from the day I picked mine up, but maybe as Dr Dave says some cars need to be driven a bit and charged/cycled before the battery is where it should be.
Give it until 500miles and then fully AC charge/balance and recheck it then, reset trips etc, if it's still not showing 162/163 miles in N3; first step I would recommend is getting an ODB2 dongle to find out what's really going on, then take it back to the dealer armed with the data/proof.
I am rather shocked and disappointed that you have recently purchased a brand new car from a dealer and they have failed to install all of the software updates before they handed over the keys, it makes you wonder what other necessary updates it is missing![]()
Please don't take this the wrong way but I am very happy with the dealer where I purchased the car. I did quite a bit of research in them and looked at many reviews. I am not overly worried about the readings that I got and was just checking if they were about normal as this is my first ev. I have been very grateful for the advice and will keep an eye on things over the next few months, as I said I have only had the car for just a little over a month it has only done 180 miles and been charged three times. Twice at Tesco on a 7kw charger when the car still showed in excess of 130 miles just to try out the chargers. The third charge was at home for 9 hours on a 13amp three pin granny charger when the vehicle showed 85 miles left.Guys, please comment on whether I'm getting this wrong or right.
The first 450volt BMS has a build date on it of 30/12/2020, generally released to dealers on 15th Jan '21.
Any car that left the factory from 15th Jan 2021 will have had the 450v installed, quite likely any cars built from around 30/12/2020 could have the 450v installed too.
For a car to have left the factory with 455v in 2021, it must've been in that very short period prior to 15th Jan.
The duff version of the BMS has a build date of 16/10/2020, generally released to dealers on 24th Oct. It was discovered to be problematic around beginning of December.
So any car that left the factory from around 16th/24th October 2020 until end of November, will have had the bad BMS installed and therefore the dealer must update it.
Unfortunately but not surprising, it looks like the dealership that you bought the car from aren't very good (otherwise they'd have applied all updates before handing the keys over). Maybe there's another dealership nearby that knows their stuff.
Will definitely suggest this for the podcast, can’t see why not. It might help me & others understand it a bit more too....?@Stuwit46 @MilesperkWh
Is it possible that this could be the subject of a future podcast as there is so much conflicting information about?
Is this on a ZS or a 5??you should get way more than 160 in eco mode after a full charge. In the present warm weather, in eco with the hvac off I get 212.
