Hi,Im taking my Jan 2020 EV in for its second service tomorrow and the garage has just rang to let me know they will need it all day as it has 4 Firmware/Internet updates to be installed after service. At least one of these is a BMS update and i seem to remember seeing that both keys are needed and that the trip meters should be zeroed before i leave the car .Is this correct or did i imagine it ?

Take both keys, key batteries should be changed as part of second service.

At least this dealer appears to be following the service bulletins put out by MG !.
Some dealers shy away from applying these larger updates.
If you are having the BMS update, ask them to specifically include the EVCC module of the car when they do the BMS update. Once this is installed, the car will charge both locked or unlocked on a A/C supply.
It's a very small "Tick Box" exercise that frequently get's missed.
When the update has been done, you will find that regularly resetting BOTH of your trips, will give you a more accurate predicted range on the GOM.
When you are fully charged & balanced, expect to see a predicted range of around 161 - 163 miles in normal mode, with everything switched off and a pack voltage of around 448v - 450 volts.
All of this info has been covered at great lengths in the BMS thread.

If battery SOH is at 100%.
Speaking from my own experience, the car’s historical data will be completely wiped cleaned.
From that point the BMS will have time to learn the actual condition / heath of the pack.
When my car received the update, like many the predicted mileage was 162 miles of range.
Over the next few months and charge cycles, the car starts to report a figure that takes into account of any battery degradation.
Cars that have covered only a small mileage will retain that 163 predicted range longer.
Mine has slowly reduced in its prediction until it has now returning what I believe to be the true SOH of the pack.
It now consistently returns a predicted range of 154 miles in normal mode.
The car is over two years old and covered over 18,000 miles.
A family member has a similar aged car, but it has only covered 7,000 miles.
His car is still reporting 163 after a full charge.
The degradation is minimal on his car.
Other owners have witnessed similar returns with similar age and mileage covered.
Just to say my car has only visited a rapid charger on three occasions for a very small “Splash and Dash”.

Follow up after service and latest Updates. All went very well at the Aylesbury Dealership with second service carried out, mud flaps fitted ,wheels swapped front to back ( i know but old habits die hard) and 4 Firmware/Updates completed.Any one interested the Campaign numbers were as follows :-

SA20 15b (New BMS software release allowing programable EV consumer units to charge cars during a preset time period programmed into at the charging point)

SA016 ( Possible failure of electric window operation from drivers door switch pack-New Drivers Door Harness fitted)

SA017 New Battery protection software (Update the DCDC and TC Modules software using SIPS)

SA020 Front infotainment Control Module (FIMC) screen freezing or MG logo looping( Update FIMC operating software using a USB flash drive and SIPS)

Only noticed an improvement with Infotainment screen and also seems to have a better GOM reading but early days and i will post if anything else changes.
