Thanks mandp and google1901, I keep a 2nd key in the car in a Faraday bag ( as others use it sometimes at work. Never a problem in old car, but turns out it was causing the problem in this one!.

lubricated lock, but still the same. Obviously this is not a common fault, so will have to wait for repair in January. Thanks for all replies.

Boot button on key fob not stuck in. Will try lubricant on lock, but I think it's like the sensor is out of sequence. Disconnecting battery on car did correct the problem for a short time.

No this not issue, boot opens normally ( with key in pocket) but won't close ( if rest of car locked), it just springs back open. Thanks anyway for reply.

Hi all, I recently purchased an mg5 ev. Locks all worked OK originally. Now if car locked, I can open boot with boot button, but if I attempt to close it, it closes, I hear the lock engage, then it immediately unlocks again and boot opens. If I unlock the car, the boot will then lock correctly...

Are you using a vpn. Android auto won't work with vpn .
