Hi all,
I recently purchased an mg5 ev. Locks all worked OK originally. Now if car locked, I can open boot with boot button, but if I attempt to close it, it closes, I hear the lock engage, then it immediately unlocks again and boot opens.
If I unlock the car, the boot will then lock correctly. I can then lock the car on the KEY FOB, not with the button on either front door.
I've tried disconnecting the battery, which seemed to reset the boot lock for a couple of days, but now back the same.
Nearest Dealer can't book in in b4 mid January.
Any advise appreciated.

No this not issue, boot opens normally ( with key in pocket) but won't close ( if rest of car locked), it just springs back open. Thanks anyway for reply.

Boot button on key fob not stuck in.

Will try lubricant on lock, but I think it's like the sensor is out of sequence. Disconnecting battery on car did correct the problem for a short time.

If there is a key inside the car the bootwill automatically reopen so that it is impossible to lock your only key inside the boot, for instance if you put your shopping in and drop your key in the boot.

I don't think that is the case on a Trophy. It doesn't seem to have any mechanism for opening the boot. Also, if you have the rear seat folded down it is possible to throw your coat so far into the car that the boot wont open. (Hurrah for the app to unlock the car)

It sounds like it thinks the key is in the boot. If I lock the car with the boot open and leave my key in the boot and then shut it, it pops open again as it senses the key. Try holding the key further away from the car next time you do that.

Do you have a set of keys in the car as well as in your pocket? I don’t think the boot will lock if there is a set in the car. I often open my boot, put a bag in the car forgetting my keys are in it, shut the boot and it immediately reopens. It is a way of ensuring we don’t lock our keys in the car.

I left my keys in golf bag which I put in the boot (although car still locked). The boot latch released immediately. So concur with others suggesting the car aware of a key. Alternatively is it possible the latch mechanism is loose/slight misalignemnt?

Thanks mandp and google1901, I keep a 2nd key in the car in a Faraday bag ( as others use it sometimes at work. Never a problem in old car, but turns out it was causing the problem in this one!.

Perhaps the Faraday bag needs replacing?

I discovered quite recently that the one I initially used was "beginning" to not block the signal so well so I swapped it for another one (I had originally, and deliberately, bought 2) and full signal-blocking resumed.
