I've had the same issues and got rid of the car. Now driving a full EV.
After driving a hybrid I can conclude there's potentially more to go wrong for a small increase in mpg.
Hope you are doing well, here are the issues I've had.
The main issue was the engine over revving and taking an absolute age to change gear to drop the revs. This occurs randomly and it doesn't really matter what state of charge the HEV battery has. Over 3k RPM for a sustained amount of time...
I have now rejected the mg3 hybrid and will look for an alternative 😊 I had it for less than 4,000 miles and have had too many issues with it to carry on with it.
Another quirk is how the engine is high revving over 4k rpm when doing motorway speed and the gears are not changing up to drop the engine speed. The engine speed is also high when coming to a stop. Is this just how the hybrid system is supposed to work?
It usually happens when the engine is charing the battery and driving the wheels. In particular when the battery charge is about 50% charged. It's more apparent when slowing down to a complete stop. I'm probably going to speak with the dealer about this as it doesn't feel right to me.
I have my car back now after 8-9 weeks waiting. They replaced the control assembly and said this part is for the gear selections. Whether they have done anything else I have no idea they didn't mention anything else. Can't work out if it's been fixed or not, so going that's a good thing.
The...
I got my car from Bristol street. They're a dual dealership which sells MGs and Vauxhalls.
High revs issue seems to mainly be when doing over 50 the car does not want to change up a gear to drop the engine revs. It'll do way over 4k rpm. The mechanic said it needs a new part so either it is an...
5 weeks. Still no car. No update from Bristol street motors about the repair. I'm getting to the point where I don't know what to do. I've contacted the finance company now and they said the dealer has 12 weeks to correct the issue.
I went to get something from my car today that's currently at the dealership. It looks like the car has just been stood for 3 weeks. Cob webs all over it and rust on the brakes. Not a good sight.
