Boot hatch needs a heavy slam

I had the same issue with my MG5. I reported it at service but the dealer said they’ve all like that. Oh yeah, never heard that before. Presumably your car will be similar. The keeper is fixed with 2x 10mm bolts. Remove the plastic trim to see it. Slacken the bolts, adjust until the...

    Frozen Charging Port Door? (Flap)

This is a release for the charging cable, not the flap over the charging port. When you put the cable into the port and start charging, the car locks the cable to prevent anyone else removing it. When you unlock the car after charging is complete, the cable lock is released. Sometimes (rarely...

    Range ok on this car?

I rest my accumulated trip at the start of every month. On 1 April, the GOM showed over 300 miles. Total nonsense of course, possibly/probably because it had nothing on which to base its estimate. For sure, it didn't revert to the 'book' value of 350. Within a few miles of driving it came...

    Advice on Granny chargers

https://toughleads.co.uk/collections/ev-electric-vehicle-extension-leads/products/advanced-granny-chargers From £159.99. EU adapters £13.99 or £21.99 for weatherproof version. I use Tough Leads stuff and find it really good. In fact, it's tough!

    MG5 Excite door mirrors

Maybe you'll know this trick. On frosty nights I use a screen cover. I have heated mirrors, but they take a while to clear. For a quicker getaway, I put zip-seal polythene bags over my mirrors. In the morning, I take off the screen cover, pull off the bags, drive off.

    UK Public rapid charging costs

I just had my bank account debited by CPS. I haven't used a public charger since last September so phoned them. The charge was for a session last August (a correct charge, but it took 7 months to be actioned)! So don't count your chickens …

    Used MG5 pre-purchase Checklist

Yes, the washer pipe flaw exists on the facelift version. I know the general advice is to fit cable ties, but mine popped even with those in place. Fit metal spring clips for a permanent fix. And, of course, an informed buyer would insist the selling dealer does that as part of the sale...

    Charging port cover not closing

I've just noticed that the warranty on the charge port door has been increased to THREE years. Until recently, it was only one year. I've booked mine in for checking this week. (It doesn't unlock, so I removed my locking pin. I'll replace it prior to dropping it at the dealer, but not before...

    MG Cyberster Charger Flap issue

From the sidelines … I had the same problem with my MG5. The solution was to simply remove the locking pin. The flap on the '5' is held closed by a spring, so there's no problem in that regard. Just pull the flap open, plug in. The big benefit, of course, is that I no longer need to worry...

Auto dip headlight - how to reactivate?

I kept "losing" auto dipping under various scenarios. I would quickly switch the lighting stalk to off & back to on - not ideal. I recently discovered that if your speed falls to 20mph or there by (e.g. passing through a village) the auto dip re-activates.

    Rear screen washer failure.

I'm 100% sure it's noything to do with the washer fluid freezing. I think the problem is that the nozzle on the rear wiper gets wet (e.g.with rain water) and freezes, blocking the nozzle. When we operate the washer pump, the fluid can't get out, the pressure builds up and the joint pops...

    Frozen Charging Port Door? (Flap)

    Not on my facelift version.

    Frozen Charging Port Door? (Flap)

That wasn't clear in your post. But, as I added later, I can see no harm in leaving the pin off.

    Frozen Charging Port Door? (Flap)

As documented in another thread, my chargeport cover stuck closed with a failed solenoid. It's only warranted for one year(!) - my solution? Turn the locking pin anti-clockwise, remove it altogether and put it in the glovebox - the next owner can decide whether he/she wants to refit it...
