What a difference some believable weather makes!

Since lowering the cabin temp to 16c I regularly get over 4miles/kWh when 0c. Lastnight 0c, 24 miles journey I got over 4 but the weird bit is that my wife had set cabin at 20c unbeknown to me. Even got 4.5 at around 4c on 24 mile trip. I've been doing this since early Feb. The downside is a...

The Ultimate MG5 "Real World" Energy Consumption Thread

We've had our 5 LR for 3 years now and just got used to the drop in efficiency during winter and usually get 3 miles/kWh when around 4c or below and the heater at around 23c. I always thought the heater was rather efficient until recently. As an experiment I set the heater to low and now I...

    MG Jack & jacking point

Fine, but I'm not convinced it's the correct jack as described in the manual. The jack and wheel were purchased from the MG dealer so I suspect it's just a common jack one gets from any motorist retail outlet. The jack is the same as any I've had with all cars I've had.

    Tyre load rating

Electric vehicles tend to be a fair bit heavier than petrol/diesel equivalents due to the batteries. Check this article. My MG5 came supplied with tyres that were not extra load rated. When it came to replacing fronts tyre garage mentioned that they should have been rated as extra load. It...

    MG Jack & jacking point

Through trial and error I tried it on that lip between the notches and it worked. I've no idea what the domed head of the jack is nor the corresponding recess. The space saver wheel and jack came with car ('71 LR Exclusive) from new. Also check the tyre pressure of the space saver tyre; mine...

    MG Jack & jacking point

I bought an MG space saver wheel with jack from MG but I cannot see where the jack fits. The manual on page 232 says "Note that the domed head of the jack must fit into the corresponding recess in the sill plate (There is a triangle indicator ...)". The jack has no doomed head and I cannot see...

Would an MG5 be a good fit for me?

Only just seen your reply. Inside tyre wear on rear tyres after about 30k miles. The infotainment system reboots occasionally. Washer pipe to rear window that runs up front right A pillar detached. Huge depreciation from new! We've had a ridiculous number of tyre punctures that we've not...

Would an MG5 be a good fit for me?

71 LR Exclusive from new. We do about 15k a year, down from 20k initially so now at 40k. It's worked for us only because we do local miles and have a home charger (Ohme Pro) with Octopus Intelligent tariff. We've saved about £3k+ on fuel through home charging. If we relied on public chargers...

    Uneven Tyre Wear

My rear tyres lasted 35k miles. I had a rear puncture only to discover that both rears had worn smooth insides. Tyre fitter said that rear wheels are fixed and can not be adjusted. The tyres were original from new as Cooper Xeons. On checking these they are not available in Europe but only on...

    A-Pillar Rear Wash Pipe Fix

I stopped using mine the moment I heard a jet of water from what appeared to be the dash. In that case nothing was obvious. I booked in at MG for next month but decided to have a go. Another attempt at using the washer I heard the splash but was now definitely from A-pillar and got a few drips...

    A-Pillar Rear Wash Pipe Fix

I've just experienced the leaking rear window washer leaking into to drivers footwell. Here's some pictures to help others. When I turned the dial for the rear window wash it sounded as if the water was being squirted behind the dashboard directly in front of the driver. It's most likely to be...

Charles Warner Lincoln - MG Dealer Discussion, Opinions & Experiences

Tried to book repair of rear screen washer pipe squirting under dash area only to be told that they are closing down. Not relocating but complete shutdown and site to be redevolped. No information as to whether MG franchise is being taken on by anyone else. Needless to say chap sounded pretty...

Standard Load Cooper Tyres At New

I'm looking for some help on clarifying tyre specification for our 71 reg 5 Long Range that came with Cooper tyres. We just had a puncture that required a new tyre. It was noticed that the original tyres are Standard Load which I'm told would be an Mot failure. I've replaced the fronts with...

    MG5 Intermittent wiper setting

Does anyone see any effect with adjusting the intermittent wiper dial on the stalk? Each time I use ours I do not see any change in the wipers frequency of sweep.
