    MG4 Extended range discontinued?

Hi Arfur, I can sell you a LR battery for £1500! just need a mechanic with a pallet truck to fit it. I can get 230miles from a MG5 SR in summer, I think 280 is achievable with the 61.1kWh battery

    MG5 Tow bar again

Hi, what "modifications" are required to fit a Chevrolet CRUZE towbar to an MG5, because they are 1. Heavy duty, allowing 1200kg towing load, and 2. cheaper and widely available. Thanks!

    Thinking of a tow bar

It weighs 30kg? What's the trailer loading limit? (towed weight, nose weight) Having removed the front bumper (a few times!) and replaced the front crash beam, I can say thats easy once the bumper's off, front on an MG5 is 4x 18mm hex bolts each side. If you're talking about fitting a towbar...

Transporting e-bike over 50 kg on the tow bar

I would say if you're not going great distances, it's not going to effect the handling of a 1.7t+ car that much, it doesn't exceed the hitch loading by much. you could put then on a roof carrier, then a short ladder will come in useful!

    Thinking of a tow bar

Hi Lloyd, It actually fits quite well with some research that I'm doing, about a Etrailer, e.g. a powered one. you will notice a marked decrease in range, due to extra rolling resistance and drag. I'd be interested to know how much (in %, and effect on normally acheive miles/kWh) that you...

    New HS PHEV towing?

Hi pears, If a FWD car will tow it, then an EV will. They have the advantage of being heavy, and very low centre of Gravity which increase grip/ traction on a slope/ tilt. I guess you have a towbar for it already? I'm actually working on a new project ATM, developing an EV powered trailer, which...

Real world range on the standard range MG5

I achieved 210.6 miles with 9% remaining yesterday, driving from Torquay via the Mendip hills and Wells to London. 4.8miles/kWh. In a standard range MG5 quite heavily loaded. Tyres at 2.6 bar front 2.2 rear. I haven't fitted my A rated front tires yet but they will probably improve efficiency to...

Efficiency Reading Accuracy on ZS EV

On a cold morning, put a fan heater in front of the drivers' seat, for 20min, you won't need to use the heater for 30min at least! (and wear a coat)

Efficiency Reading Accuracy on ZS EV

A lorry can't brake faster than I can! so if you have slower reactions, just follow a bit further back! BTW, you don't have to be too close to the lorry, if it's high, it leaves a long slipstream behind it. Have the MG in Volts-Amps-RPM screen (pity it doesn't have mph in the spare quarter!) and...

Efficiency Reading Accuracy on ZS EV

My best efficiency on a SR MG5 was 5.3miles/kWh, over 111.4miles. Driving around 50mph behind lorries! Here's a picture for those who won't believe it. Mostly on M1. At that rate my range would be 301miles! (on a SR)

    Tyre advice

Tighten the valve, using a valve tool. they are on some metal dust caps. if it doesn't stop going down, you probably have a puncture (nail or screw, still in the tyre...)

Low range indicated at 100% charge

Previous post editted. I posted it in another thread 🧵

Low range indicated at 100% charge

That is atrocious efficiency, I did 4.2 on a trip from SW London to Basingstoke today and I was doing 60-70 mph. In an MG5. On the way back, it was more like 80-90! And that was about 3.3. you should really try to slipstream more lorries! 😉

    First case of Range Anxiety

You only got 3.4 miles/kWh?? I did 4.2 on a trip from SW London to Basingstoke today and I was doing 60-70 mph. In an MG5. On the way back, it was more like 80-90! And that was about 3.3. you should really try to slipstream more lorries! 😉

    Rear screen washer failure.

Hi Steve, I see no one actually answered your question, they just expected MG service to fix it under warranty! Those of us with practical skills, whose cars (MG5) are not under warranty would fix it ourselves! Also owners of other cars (MG4, ZS, etc) were answering, pipe not nec. in the same...
