@Vipar yep, that's what I assumed. But, I'm now getting almost daily emails from the comparison websites, and the quotes I'm getting are decreasing by the day! I think I'll wait to arrange the insurance just 5 minutes before taking delivery!!
@mystreet that is a good site indeed, however I was looking to gather enough interest to obtain a bulk discount with the printer I already use. I was able to offer the MG4 manual for less than £10 and looked to do the same for the IM5.
I had a call from the dealer yesterday to say that my car was due this month, but no specific date. I do believe a couple of boats are due into Portbury today (2nd) and next Monday (9th) with IM5s onboard, but even if mine's on the first boat, it'll be a week or more before I expect to hear that...
Well, I've cancelled this idea as only two people have expressed interest - and I was one of them! Apologies to @Vipar and anyone else who might have been considering the idea, but too late! ;)
When I bought my MG4, three years ago, I had to sort the insurance myself, no dealer offer of insurance then. Assuming it's still the same for the IM5, good luck trying to find a sensible quote!!
I have since requested quotes via MoneySupermarket and now, all of a sudden, I'm getting quotes of less than £500 from the same companies that were quoting £1500 plus originally and just last week not quoting at all! It's a confusing mess!
Again, true but more and more charge points are contactless payment and don't need an app. I wonder if it's possible to interrogate the car via OBD2 to get the data
Thanks @Swampy 👍. Yep, going to leave 'em in the glove box 😀.
I have offered to get some IM5 manuals printed, as that's what is replacing the MG4, but no real interest there yet.
In my case, luckily I did manage to dodge the VED by retaxing before the change.
Ironically enough, I was on my phone to my insurance company just as this response was posted. As my renewal date was coincident with the return date, I contacted them to see if I could transfer the insurance to the...
True that. I rang Ageas for a quote and to start with they said it wasn't coming up on their system but when pressed said that I needed a registration number. C'mon, either or please!
I'm rather concerned that most (if not all) of the larger insurance companies are either not quoting for the IM5 at all (e.g. my present insurer, Ageas) or are asking astronomic price hikes up from my existing MG4 (i.e. £1500+ for the IM5 100 LR compared to £390 for my MG4 Trophy).
What do they...
I'm returning my car (MG4) to the bank in a week or so (negative equity etc), and I'm preparing a list of "Got to do's" before the car collection guy turns up. If there's anyone who's already been through the procedure, can you tell me if I've forgotten anything please?
Here's my list (so far)...
