Interesting about high engine revs. I noticed on the motorway my engine was noisily revving at 4K (assume 4000) when doing only 60mph. My standard old MGA does that too!
Surely the revs should be under 3K. Do I have a problem here? At that speed I also noticed the car was running at around 40mpg. Have not attempted any big hills yet. Urban driving is good at around the 60mpg mark. Any thoughts here?
At 70 my car is certainly under 3k rpm, usually around 2,700 from memory…
If, as I’ve said before, the car detects an incline, it’s almost as if the three speed box changes down to second gear, not to drive the car but provide charge it seems, for the battery to power the car.
I do keep the right hand display on the energy flow graphic, to try and see what’s going where!
Either way, this is one aspect of the car, along with phantom braking when in MG Pilot, that I find annoying.
It may have been your car was going up an incline, hence it’s reason to ‘change down’.
Maybe ask the dealer to look into it. My dealer has said my car needs a new control assembly to rectify the issue. I've been waiting 6 weeks now.
The main issues for me are the high revs.
Second issue is low mpg
Third issue is a squeaking drivers seat when turning left

I also sometimes get squeaking from the drivers seat.
What was the nature of your high revs issue?
I have this and thought it was a ‘characteristic’ of the drive train, but if your dealer has diagnosed a problem I may get it investigated.
Btw which dealer do you use?
