MG4 EV Battery charging

I am having problem with charging battery...when connect a car to charge the light doesnt show but on display panel it says it is connecting....it stays like that and battery doesnt charge at all. Charger model is AC 22kW.
Once I had message: HV battery shut off.

Any help guys would mean a lot. Thank you

Can you please tell us your actions before you plug into the charge port. That is:

a. Unlock car;
b. Power up car;
c. Open charge port flap;
d. See if port lights work;
e. Check colour of port lights ....

and so on.

Do you have a granny charger, that is one that plugs into your domestic sockets?

The key thing is that once it's plugged in at both ends and the cable gets locked in place by the vehicle, the EVSE can start pumping current through.

The only really important things are:

Once the cable gets locked in by the vehicle (you should be able to hear it latch when both ends are connected) - do not then unlock the doors. If you do it also unlocks the cable which will stop the charging process. It should resume when you lock or press "start" on the display, but it's a minor annoyance.
Don't spend too long faffing about after plugging the vehicle in before starting the charge. I reckon it waits about 60 seconds before giving up and getting in a state where you need to start the process from scratch - i.e. unlock vehicle, remove cable from vehicle, lock (shut everything down), unlock, plug cable back in at both ends, initiate charge.

Plug cable to car, plug cable to EVSE (do these either way round), start charge on EVSE. Anything you do before that doesn't really matter.

The reason I asked about the process used by @zeka is that sometimes when I just unlock the car and open the charge port panel the lights are not on and even if I connect the car to my EVSE, checking all plugs are firmly locked in, the car will not charge. I need to power up the car to charge it.

Maybe the car, app or charger is set to scheduled charge? 22kW Charger is 3 phase?

This is a known issue with the MG4 at least. Is it possible that it's charging despite the LED lights not coming on?

The lights can be fixed by disconnecting the 12V negative lead for a few minutes, but the problem seems to come back with time. I'm pretty lucky with my lights so far.

Yes, but that won't affect starting the charge.

The are no issues with the lights. On those occasions the car would not start a charge until I powered it up, all other factors being correct for a charge to start.

The point I was trying to make is that there appears to be vagaries in the system that means you may have to do various checks and try various things if a charge doesn't start, as has been shown with the many procedures offered on this site.

My first post was to establish what the original poster had done so that options could be provided. As @zeka has not responded I assume they have resolved their issue.

I have 4 more MG4 cars in my company and we have been driving them for a year and we know all the procedures for charging.
I did all the same procedures, but it won't accept charging.
The car has 17,000 km on the clock and the car is under warranty. We have a local Mg service, but their support is very bad. They don't answer e-mail, they don't answer the phone.
That's why I looked for a solution myself and contacted this forum, maybe someone had a problem similar to mine.

Australia has a dedicated number for warranty claims, is there something similar in Bosnia perhaps? Or perhaps you can contact the importer if it’s not MG themselves?

@zeka, thank you for replying. You obviously have lots of experience with the MG and therefore I hesitate to offer advice. However a fresh set of eyes and trying things can help localise and possibly resolve the issue.

So, the lack of port lights has been seen before as @Coulomb said in his post above; it does not normally stop charging.

Do you have a domestic 240v 'granny' charger that you can test with and a different charge cable?

Have you tried another charger?

Have you tried charging from a DC (rapid) charger? Did it work?

Please confirm your car can charge 3-phase; note the UK version does not?

Have you set any schedules for charging, in the car or on the app?

You could try disconnecting the negative terminal of the 12V battery to reset the system. See the Hints, Tips and Solutions page on the forum.
