I’m finding that when turning left out of T junctions on unlit roads, the road and pavement to my immediate left is not lit by the headlights.
So I’m turning into blackness until the car passes through a considerable angle and the headlights light up the road ahead.

Unnerving if a pedestrian is standing on the junction.

Is this a common problem with a DIY adjustment of the near side light?

Turning right is not so much of an issue as the turning angle is often shallower.

Thanks

Perhaps, like me, you were used to driving an ICE which automatically ‘angle lit’ your turning path. I find the current darkness unnerving, scared I might scrape a high kerb or something similar. If there is a fix… ?

I doubt this is an ICE vs EV issue.
More an issue of having the functionality vs not having it (and MG4 doesn't have it)

Yes, sorry, I I gave the wrong impression; I was not trying to draw that distinction. This functionality would be very welcome but, doubtless, it wouldn’t be retrospective.

No need for sorry ?
I guess, if the market allows, it can be added as an aftermarket accessory (pun not intended)

Its one of he first things I noticed when driving mine in the dark, the day I got it.
Didn't realise how good it was to have cornering lights (on my last car) until they weren't there (on the MG4).
Only had the car 6 weeks, and already wondering if aftermarket accessories might become available for this.
I've set the cameras to come on when with the indicators at low speeds, but haven't yet had the chance to see if that helps when there's no street lighting.

Never had cornering lights on any of my previous cars and have not encountered the problem I describe in the OP with any other car going back to the 80s. There is a noticeable lack of spread of light to the n/s close to the car. All my lights are working too. Wondered if this happens on all MG4s or can be adjusted easily without resorting to a dealer. Which would be a pain as this is my first leased car too.

There's a thread on here from last year about Trophy Headlamp Adjustment that shows how to adjust dipped beam and high beam aim separately.

Completely agree with the OP Jonknee. Recently I drove my old car for a week and was reminded how much better the lights are. More spillage to the sides so much easier to see around corners and see down a dark lane that you’re about the pull into. Also there is no stark shadow line straight ahead that bounces around to make you feel ill. My 2018 Skoda casts wonderfully uniform light, so much nicer to drive at night.

Mine have well defined dark area between high and low beams when high beam is on, extending about 5m in front of the car.
I don't know if that's normal, I never seen it before on previous cars, with LED or Halogen headlights.
The high beam does seem to shine high, so could it need adjusting down ?

I've only had my zs hybrid two days so havn't had a chance to look yet, but I notice that some cars indicators turn off the headlamp whilst flashing
ie,
main beam,
indicator,
main beam on again while indicating.

This might contribute to a lack of light on the nearside at junctions, however I would guess this on, off main beam would be pretty noticable.

Must check mine when it gets dark 🤔

A lot of cars turn off the daytime running light whilst indicating, but I would say if it turns off your main beam at night to indicate, that’s a bug or fault in the system.
