can't lock the door

My MG 4 Luxury is 2 years old and now the horn suddenly sounds when I try to close the car with either the door handle, key or app. I therefore have to stop the power system on the infotainment screen every time I get out of the car. Can I fix this problem myself or do I need to drive to the dealer, where I can't book an appointment until 3 weeks later

It is most likely because a door, the boot or the bonnet is not properly closed, alternatively that the equivalent sensor is faulty

Are there sensors in the seats causing the problem
I don't think resetting infotaintment will help?

I guess you could rule out the drivers door based on whether the system (partially) arms or not, other than that it could be any opening. No mention of any interior sensors in the manual I could find easily.

There are sensors in the seats, they are used for seat belt warnings, and the drivers seat "switches on" the car - like an ignition switch. If one of them is faulty (stuck 'on') you should get a seat belt warning on the driver's display when no passengers are in the car.

Just thought of this, but what does the app say about the doors? Maybe you can see where the car thinks the opening is this way.

yes the app says everything is closed and locked. The only error message is 'Smartkey not registered' on the driver display

The car is telling you it can't detect the key, try the spare key 1st, if that works it may just be the battery in the key needs replacing

I assume the battery is empty and no key is detected. As suggested try the other key or change the battery. Could be a CR2032 battery, but not sure. The Manual should state what should be used and a how to to open the Key.
