Hi,

(MG4 XPOWER)

I've been trying to get the bluetooth music to work for months, but having no luck. I have tried 2 different phones (Pixel 6a and Iphone 15). The phone is paired to the car, and when I start playing something on Spotify, I can see the song title come up on the car and the progress bar starts moving, but there's no sound. The volume is up on the car, the volume is up on the phone, but nothing happens. I've tried the Youtube app as well just to see if it was a spotify issue and there's no sound from that either.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?

Thanks

Does radio audio work OK?

What about if you connect the phone to the car and use Android Auto / Apple CarPlay?

Have you tried resetting the head unit? (Long press the home button)
No, I'll try that later. Though I would have thought turning the car off and then on again later would have the same effect? I've been trying for months to get it working.

Yes radio works fine most of the time, apart from when it randomly decides to have no stations every few weeks. I've not tried connected with USB yet, i will try later.

As a follow up ... if you have the phone connected by BT (only, not AA/CP) can you make and receive calls OK? (Just trying to isolate if it is a general BT issue or just BT music).

Holding the home button until it reset seemed to do something, it worked after that. Hopefully will still work next time. Couldn't get it to work via USB, as Apple Car Play didn't want to work, maybe i need a different cable or something for that.

Make sure the cable is:
  • plugged into the USB A socket not the smaller USB C one
  • it's a data cable and not just a charging cable. One that's been recommended by other members is this one from Amazon https://amzn.eu/d/aJLMygY
  • the phone socket is clean and dust free

I get the same problem ALL THE TIME with my Xpower. The electronics are absolute dogshit on this car.

My Bluetooth connection works 1 out of every 10 times I’d say. When it does connect, I won’t hear any sound (yes it’s playing) until I flip across to radio and then back again.

Apple play almost never works - I repeatedly disconnect and reconnect the cable. It recognises the device, starts playing and then about 30 seconds later drops the connection.

Every week or so, my MG app says I have declined the user agreement and then immediately says I have accepted it again. I get these notifications almost weekly.

When the lease is up on this car - I will absolutely NOT be getting another MG unless they can bring a degree of reliability and consistent behaviour to their electronics.

I found the car reset did work temporarily, though I had to keep doing it as every time I got into the car it wasn't working again. Now even that's not working. Just back to no sound again :(

I couldn't get a cable to work either, using official iphone one.

Flip to radio and back again! That worked for me - thanks!!

Of course you can only do this using the little source selector arrows from the front screen. If you’re in BT audio mode, the “detail” screen forgets all about the fact the car has a radio.

Would be good to know which Infotainment Version you all got. Maybe this behaviour can be fixed with an update. You need to complain to the Dealer to get it resolved.
Or do it yourself if you are capable :).
And in addition what is the T-BOX Version, which seems to be involved into Bluetooth issues.

With SW version please post complete numbering, here previous Versions of my (EU) Luxury as en example:
