Better infotainment needed on MG4 / X power

Just wanted to make this point after diving the 24/25 mg HS for nearly a week ..

Ive noticed huge improvements to the infotainment system that needs to be implemented into the MG4 / Xpower range namely bluetooth is like 100% better hardly drops out / or needs re pairing almost everytime you get back into the car
( im not sure if this is on the hardware lvl of fix or just better software but much better )

The infotainment menus are much more intuitive and alot cleaner ..

Heres to hoping that MG can fix some or the shabby Infotainment issues with the current MG4s and Xpowers !!

I have had one issue with it everything went static ( remember the old tube tvs ants on tv static ) had all screens like that then cameras wouldnt show stuff after a few hard resets it sorted itself ..

I recommend ( if the interest compels you to do so ) to take a look at the new 2024 25 MG HS its quite a decent car..

like i said in another post add AWD , 200kw and make it EV at a 55k - 60k aud price point with is current ride and drive and it will beat the likes of most other EV suvs out there..

Havent got any full side pics but it gives me jaguar f pace vibes side on !!
I have noticed just lately that mine needs to re- pick up the connection for my phone to use CarPlay. It is a tad irritating. Is that a software update fix?

lol! Not too bothered at the moment. It’s a minor irritation!
No it's not minor at all! It means the car is rubbish and you need to start posting lots of comments on lots of different threads about how rubbish MG cars really are! Lol.

Enjoy the car, they are fabulous.

Or you bury your head in the sand and hop from thread to thread poo pooing everyone else's genuine complaints, post stuff about how faults are user error and when ask to explain that have nothing to substantiate your claims so resort to petty comments

I've said before the car is decent the X power is the best bang for buck out there, have there been faults yes lots, are some of the materials on the cheap side yes, they have to be for the price of the car. Does MGs after sales and some dealers service leave a lot to be desired absolutely, that's not just me talking that is plainly laid out in the what car reliability survey.

I get that people want to be happy and defend the purchase they have spent a lot of money on but let's not kid ourselves that it's perfect there wouldn't be legal case with mass rejection ongoing for the faults with the X power if it was.

But hey as long as your happy, and I have said I'm glad yours is ok, then that's alright, everyone else with an issue can be comforted in that knowledge.

MG are known to have the most rubbish infotainment system off all Chinese cars.

When it works it is very good. MG 4 Essence 64. The issues it can have are:
1. You can’t swap from one mode to another easily if your turn indicator is on. Just when you want change because you are stopped at traffic lights. (Firmware update Wishlist item 5)
2. Digital radio doesn’t cover where we live. It does reach us once we are 30km north. Not the car’s fault
3. It is best to use voice control the screen is not well set up for this use unless you just want to skip within the same playlist (Apple music). (Firmware update Wishlist no 3).
We don’t have any connection issues IF we connect the right way. This involves about an extra 12 seconds during the car entry process. Get in, seat belts on as you press the brake pedal; open iPhone via face regocnition; plug in iPhone. Turn the direction selector from park to begin the trip. Forget to do that and you need to pull over and do it again.

Bluetooth issues seem to be phone or phone software related related too. I changed from a Xiaomi 12 (Android 12) to a Xiaomi 14T Pro (Android 14) before Christmas. The Xiaomi 12 regularly lost connection and needed re-pairing once or twice a week. With the Xiaomi 14 it's happened once since the middle of December. I can see there are multiple connections on the phone as before, which is a little weird, but this doesn't seem to affect performance. Maybe it has something to do with Bluetooth protocols or connection tolerance.
PS is R59 the latest for the XPower or is it R63? I have a service next week and have been demanding upgrade to R63. I hope that's the correct version for the XPower variant otherwise I might look a fool 😊

I'm constantly having to connect the wife's phone to the car at least 2 or 3 times a week
Is it a Pixel? I've got a Pixel 8 and it's always re-pairing with the MG4. It's fine with our VWAG cars. It does my head in. I wonder if anyone has got software on their MG4 that fixes this. R63 doesn't but I suspect a TBOX upgrade may do it.

i was under the impression that r59 was the latest maybe it varies country to country ..

Mind you my purchase dealership hasnt even bothered to contact me since march 2024 !!

so i guess ill have to go looking for myself and ring Waverley MG !!

My iphone 15 constantly needs repairing after i turn the car off and leave ..

7/10 times it needs paring again at least to some degree its easier than it was it used to be a 10 -15minute F around trying to get them to pair again !!

Do you use an external wireless AA adapter? Just trying to understand if any external factors could be at play. I am guessing it's something to do with randomizing MAC addresses but I don't know

Nope straight Bluetooth connection

The wired car play is silly at best to me being as the phone charger/ holder is the most stupidest thing every invented for a car with 320kW ..

The 24/25 Mg HS loan car i used seemed ALOT more stable straight Bluetooth connection without the need to re pair almost every time i left and came back to car ..

i'm really not interested in dongles etc etc .. just want to connect the car to Bluetooth and make calls and play my music ..

the default NAV is fine for most things!

Worse case i plug the phone in, use apple carplay maps, and place the phone in the cup holder underneath.

I always like to have my phone on me for emergencies etc etc ..

( im oldish and the rubbish kids use phones for today doesnt interest me )

so i find it a pain when its plugged into the car i often forget it and leave it in the car !!
