Security alarm cancelled ??

Hi guys.

I have these notifications keeps popping up every few seconds in my app the security alarm is released, you can now drive the vehicle .

What is that all about? Car is locked as usual.

It’s been happening to me too. I’m starting to think it’s related to starting the app or connecting the app.

Where is your car key fob, anywhere near the car? I get this sometimes if the fob battery is low... Are there any other messages in the app message centre? It should also tell you what triggered the alarm.

It mostly happens when I open the app but I am mostly nowhere near the car. It may be something to do with the keyless start, ie, because I opened the app it’s getting ready in case I want to remotely start the car.

Your MG app should tell you what triggered the alarm, open it and check messages, see attached:

I’ve recently started to get these too, nearly always when I open the App. Car is two years old. Im a few hundred meters from the car so I don’t think it’s a proximity issue. I’m wondering if the key fob battery theory might be viable as nothing else has changed

I had this after I inadvertently left my keys in the boot.

The easy fix was to lock, unlock, and relock the car with the key fob, rather than the door button, and all was well again.
 
Do you an OBDII dongle fitted. If it is live it creates an alarm as you walk away the app loses BT connectivity with it

Yes, this happened to me. I left the OBD II dongle connected by mistake then locked the car. After about 1 minute the alarm went off and I got the security alarm. This happened multiple times until I noticed the dongle and removed it.
 
This is a possibility as I do use an obd2 dongle sometimes and occasionally leave it plugged in, the alarm goes off if I was using car scanner in car play and lock the car and walk away…. So I usually take the dongle out. Maybe it is all related… it definitely only creates the alarm at exactly the time I open the app… but maybe it has an alarm triggered in the car and it holds it there until I use the app and it synchronises… it’s not a huge issue as I’m sure the car is secure… just another Chinese software feature that keeps us all entertained. ;)
