Seems that Arnold Clark MG branches in Scotland now have the available updates for recent problems. One for the infotainment system and the other to sort out the acceleration/high rev problem. Both are showing from MG as 'recall' although they have no idea as to when all owners will be notified. Mine going in next week so looking forward to seeing how it goes however dealer not sure how long it will take, just something between 2 and 4 hours to install.

I rang the dealer that I have ordered mine from, now ready on the 14th March, he said all and any available software updates will be done prior to me picking up the car, so hopefully I should have them already installed.

Hi. This sounds promising, do you know what the infotainment update will include?

Nothing new ... it's just about the PD052 that new thread should be closed since there is no update / no value added to the previous threads dealing with the issues (high rpm, loss of power when climbing mountains at high speed when battery is at 1 or 0/8)

Car not going to go in until Wednesday and dealer only told me that one is for the infotainment and the other for the engine control. Other than that, they had no specific details as to what it alters. Hopefully they'll have more informartion when I pick my car up

Car was in for two recall updates and had PD032-ZS32 FICM update and PD050 ZS32 FVCM update done. No mention of PD052 other than they've never heard of it. Specifically asked regarding the increased RPMs that I'd been noticing, and the stock reply to that was that it was caused due to the car having a 3 speed gearbox and it was the same as moving up from third to fourth in a manual ?? Wasn't happy with this explanation however dealer could not provide any specific details as to either of the two recal updates as they told me that MG supply them with the software but don't tell them what each update does. Took the car away and still getting occassional high RPMs, so now about to contact MG UK direct to see what they come up with.

Did you find out what updates were done? Are you happy with the car?
Collected the car on the 14th March, so far its problem free, got 67.2 MPG on the way back from the dealer, that was dual carriageway and M42, next time I got 60.1 MPG, I like the car because I can get in easy, this car drives similar to the Renualt Arkana RS line I traded it in for, I will update when I have had it for a couple of months.

All I got from dealer after updates was update number in service account but no details as to what the updates did. Did you get any more information than this ?

No, They said it would be fully updated to any that were required or available, the only problem I have is with the MG Ismart app, it works when it wants to, MG said to take it to the dealer for them to check, but it is not the car its the app, if you clear the cache and storage it works fine until you close the app, then it works when it wants to.

Hi Bruno. Not that it’s any help for you but I’ve just tried mine. The indicator spins for about 5 seconds, then stops. The display shows fuel tank capacity etc. I then select the shield on the bottom row and it then shows the vehicle status. So all is working.
Some time ago, there were a lot of times when members were commenting that it didn’t load, but recently it’s been OK.
Perhaps if you were to delete it and reinstall……
Cheers Noel.

Hi Noel
Today it has been working better than ever using mobile data, so hopefully it has corrected itself.

Email response to my enquiry to MG Customer Care...29 March 2025

Thank you for contacting MG customer care.

I’m sorry to hear that your vehicle is experiencing issues with the RPM
We have spoken to our head office about this issue, and they have advised us of the following information:
Please note that this concern has been highlighted to MG and is currently under review with the factory.

The transmission operation of this model when travelling uphill is determined at this stage to be a characteristic of the vehicle that does not pose a safety or mechanical drivability issue, therefore, the vehicle can continue to be used.

We are aware that customers have expressed concern over the annoyance of the transmission operation and therefore await feedback from the factory on whether a solution can be produced to improve driver enjoyment.
MG will communicate with our dealership network should a driver improvement solution become available
Currently MG are working on a fix with the factory but don’t have a permanent solution.

I understand that this email doesn’t meet your desired outcomes, but the vehicle has been deemed to be safe to be driven until a known fix has been made.

Hi Dave.

My ZS hybrid went in on Monday for the N/S mirror light strip to be replaced, mine had bad condensation in it. At the same time they said they would be updating any software that needed updating.
After a couple of hours, they rang and informed me that the light strip didn’t fit and I could pick up the car.
They informed me that they had updated PD050 and PD052, and had ordered a new light strip.
On the drive home, 25 miles, there was a marked difference to the car. I have never had the high revving problem, but after the updates 5,000 rpm became the norm. One instance was when negotiating a local hill, it’s not steep. Traffic resulted in my going up it at 35mph, at 5,000, it has never done this before!! And once over the top the high revs continued, slowly reducing to around 2,500.
That evening I had to drive to a meeting around 15 miles away, a lot of it on a dual carriageway. Any attempt to increase speed resulted in an increase in revs.
O the way how I noticed drivers flashing me, the auto dipping lights were not working properly. In the end I had to resort to manual operation.
In the morning I contacted the dealership and they said there was a new update being prepared for the high revs problem, and that they would look into these ‘NEW’ problems, when they had received the correct part for the mirror.
Cheers Noel.
