Range ok on this car?

Might just be the way it was driven (and the temperature) on its last few drives.

Might be that it hasn't had a long charge done. Lots of people don't realise you should do this. Run the battery down to less than 10%, let the car sit for a couple of hours, then charge it to 100% and let it balance on an AC charger in a single session. Range often magically reappears.

Maximum advertised range for trophy (or long range) at 100% is 250. At 80% it's about 210 / 220 for me
Your gom is possibly very optimistic... or you have an amazing style and get huge miles/ kWh.
A bit of both I guess . I misread your post and it seems you were talking at 80% and I was talking about 100% . As far as my driving style goes it's:- ( Mostly )steady acceleration and deceleration , keep to the speed limits . A 40 mile round trip yesterday gave me 5 M/KwH .5 x 57.4 KW useable battery= 285 miles range approximately . I'm not too brave ,or foolhardy , to run it down to zer to test that out ;)

Thanks everyone for input to my thread. It is all very much appreciated and had been very helpful. Ian

Quick and simple method that does not involve any cost or scanners and can be done at the dealers is to simply reset the accumulated trip meter.
At 100% SOC (state of charge) this should show the WLTP range (250 for a LR) on the GOM (guess-o-meter). At any other percentage say 80% then it would show 250*80/100 =200.
Anything less than these figures represent the degradation, some should be expected, in SOH (state of health) of the HV traction battery (the big battery).
That's it... occasionally I charge mine to 100% for a long run... I always reset the trip and in 3 years it's always been 250...

Curious how that actually translates into the real world? Maybe not to zero but how about running down to 10% and report how far you actually got?
Too chicken for that ;) . I can't charge at home so it would be risky . I've seen the GOM show 332 miles range not that I truly believed it

Have pretty much given up trying to find one with a warranty, ie proper service record. Even the MG dealers tell fibs.

Was that with the accumulated trip reset after reaching 100% ?
I’d be surprised if that was the case, as last time I did a trip reset, the estimated range actually decreased, i.e it seems like the car is calculating range with a fixed (4.4?) miles/kWh initial consumption all year round.

The GOM looks at the miles per KWHr (accumulated), whether you are in ECO/Normal/Sport and the state of charge so can vary a lot for any given SOC.
As a rough guide in winter you may only average 3.4 - 3.5 Miles per KWHr and in summer 4.5 - 5. But these efficiencies are very affected by ambient temperature (batteries work better when warm), driving style, average car speed (high speed drops the efficiency a lot), heating, air con etc.

Obviously it returns to default after a reset , but after 100 or so miles the GOM range increases . This month at 124m miles I'm getting 4.9M/KW . I believe the efficiency on the 5 is 3.7 M/Kw so at 4.9 the GOM should be nearer 280 give or take

Hi all. On verge of buying an MV5 61.1kWh. 38000 miles. 2022 21 plate.

Battery charged to 100%, car says range 195 miles. Is that bad?
Thanks for any input.

I've had my MG5 EV LR from new 2022 .Best car ever. I average 250- 280 miles per charge in the summer. The winter varies so much, l
My lowest-5c is 170 miles but 7c upwards 190- 200 miles..You need to reset your GOM Gomev is a genius on MG5 . He will explain how to reset it
Kind regards

My initial response was with regard the original post indicating a method to show the SOH simply which requires the reset.

Did you ever to drive the 250-280 miles on one charge or are you merely quoting the GOM? If you did, what was your average speed?

Resetting the GOM @ 100% SoC is an easy way to determine SoH as per @Gomev ‘s suggestion, but isn’t actually increasing the range.

Yes I get 250 often and 280 on over 100 mile run . My average speed was up to 40 -45 mph on A named straight wide roads , but obviously on the motorways I would average 50- 55 mph.The longest I've got more than a couple of times is 300 miles in temp 20c . It's important to use your KERS 3 to get max range .The MG 4 is a nice car but smaller and has a very small boot, and in my opinion is not as reliable overall. 4.9 m/kw is good and 5 and over is very good.

… now it’s all starting to make sense, you’re comparing apples with oranges, this is the MG5 forum…

I rest my accumulated trip at the start of every month. On 1 April, the GOM showed over 300 miles. Total nonsense of course, possibly/probably because it had nothing on which to base its estimate. For sure, it didn't revert to the 'book' value of 350. Within a few miles of driving it came back to it's normal (for my driving characteristics) of around 240.
