So you have the 12V battery and even more storage... under that compartment that you created ? I would consider "changing" the way it's designed under the boot with the polystyrene stuff which takes too much volume and isn't optimized at all.

My MG3 replaced a Dacia Sandero DCI 90 , 2013... From a diesel to an hybrid. The dacia had a bigger space for the trunk, and the rear seats were 60/40 foldable. MPG was a bit higher on the Dacia (like 5.5 to 6L per 100km) BUT the tank could contain 55++ Liters of diesel ^^
