MG3 Hybrid+ - Rear creaking noise when driving over bumps

Update on my previous post. The (suspected) rear suspension 'graunching' noise when going over speed bumps has mysteriously disappeared. Apart from adjusting tyre pressures, nothing else has been done to the car. It was however noted that the noise disappeared on the same day that the outside temp rose from minus 5°C to plus 7°C!

Hi @Countjagular, Yet to be confirmed by a few more days driving, but it seems I have the same experience as you. As the ambient temperature has gone up my creaking has disappeared as well!! Haven't adjusted any tyre pressures but I did get a warning that some tyre pressures were low when it was really cold, but these have also gone away now.

Only pumped up tyres because the pump supplied with car reads incorrectly. Pumped up to 2.5 bar on gauge only reads 2.3 on dash, so in cold weather went down to 2.2 bar resulting in warnings. Now find I have to pump up to 2.8 in order to get correct pressure. Purchase of a new digital gauge has confirmed.

So creaking has eased since weather warmed I will pump tyres to see if that also makes a difference. If that’s the case then will be suspension as when tyres too soft it’s bouncing more?? Maybe?? 🤔

Our car has also started to make the creaking noise. I think it might be the polystyrene used to house the battery and jack.
Weird isn’t it!! I’m glad I only use car a few days a week!!

It could be a dry suspension bush. One for the dealer to sort out
Definitely taking in to dealership if doesn’t get better was waiting until dryer weather to see if anything improved!

I am going to wait till the car gets its next service. If you go anywhere near an Arnold Clark dealership with a problem they charge £100 plus for a diagnostic test, even if that it highly unlikely to show up a fault code, which is the case if it is suspension related.

Creaking rear suspension over speed bumps when temperature is cold, weather warmed up a bit this week and creaking stopped.
Booked into the dealership to investigate this 1st of April, but if the weather is warmer I'm afraid they won't be able to locate the problem.
Any one got any advice on this?

OMFG!! Just found out why our cars bonk & klonk only on the rear left side. After hearing the same clonking on 4 different MG3s I had to see where does it come from. Curiosity & frustration. Today I had the chance to get under the car myself and tug& pull & push on the suspension. It’s the way this car is built. They sway bar tilts (obviously) and on the left side has a bushing that makes that clonking sound. It’s not the shocks. If you pay attention while driving slow over irregular surfaces on EV you can hear it. Only on rear left side (driver’s side for non UK cars). It’s like a soft clonking but annoying and constant. Until now all the Mg3s I tested have it. All of them. No exception
