Used MG5 Standard vs Long range worth the price difference?

Quotes I got for an SR reduced by £100 when I purchased the LR. My understanding is the SR has Cruise Control, where as the LR has ACC. Which imo is a game changer, the amount of people that can't maintain a speed is painful and mean you're constantly turning off cruise control to maneuver...

    EV charging stations

Its frustratingly less convenient to access than a petrol station. You have to come off the main A road and loop around an industrial estate to get there like a motorway services. I've driven past multiple times with the intention to stop for a look on the way back, then couldn't be bothered to...

    Life without a home charger?

Honestly I factored in 5p off-peak charging with octopus Go. But actually get free charging at work. Now my Go is 7.5p but still economically sound. Should the free charging at work cease all of the other economic pressures will start to sting really hard. Currently more concerned about my...

    aawireless blues

Android 9 is the lowest version that will work with Android Auto. Make sure you've patched it up as best you can. As above AA Wireless can work better at 2.4ghz on older devices.

MG5 EV- One key and does not connect

That's interesting. Any idea how it's resolved? , I'm hoping 'having the 2nd key' isn't the answer.

Would you expect rear lights on with Daylight Running Lights (DRL)?

The dash illuminates continously. If you have inadvertently turned off auto-headlights, it's not made clear. The DRLs produce enough light to lead you to believe your lights are on. Most people look in front of them and won't notice the tell-tale for sidelights is off. I've followed many cars...

MG5 EV- One key and does not connect

Was it just the door? Sounds like maybe something hasn't been reconnected or some cabling has been damaged. When you put your foot on the brake and power it up do you get any warning messages? Have you tried the 12v disconnect, this makes the vehicle relearn it's sensors and may resolve your issue.

MG5 EV- One key and does not connect

For those that ask. CAT S replaced Cat C, but makes clear the vehicle sustained structural damage. Usually advised to be professionally repaired. CAT N replaced Cat D, non structural damage, usually cosmetic. Both can be returned to the road following repair, but the label does follow and...

Would you expect rear lights on with Daylight Running Lights (DRL)?

Because Auto Headlights only come on below a certain threshold, and this is usually set darker than the point a person would choose to flip them on. Because the dash is lit up and auto headlights are on, many drivers are oblivious to the fact the rears aren't on. Rainy/Misty and Dusk/Dawn...

Would you expect rear lights on with Daylight Running Lights (DRL)?

DRLs are (were) not required to operate the rear lights. Complete farce if you ask me, but the Canadian government agrees, they've now mandated DRLs must illuminate the rear too. Like many cars my MG5 runs the DRLs at the front and lights up the dash, it doesn't operate the rear. Automatic...

    Octopus energy tariffs

Ofgem have forced a higher charge on energy providers to pay for 'supplier of last resort' costs. Companies going bust has put a large strain on this system as it was designed as afailsafe for a number of smaller suppliers failing. Not high amounts of larger ones.

How to set up mg iSMART on a 2022 mg5 ev

How to set up mg iSMART on a 2022 mg5 ev

That would be 'no current mg5 UK models have ismart capability' . They lack the hardware as it was not UK/EU data protection law compliant. Its not present and turned off. The face-lift ZS does, and the face-lift 5 will do when it lands in the UK. Calling it a 2022 model is somewhat misleading...

    Window Tinting MG5

It's classed as a modification by insurers. Generally speaking on a car like the mg they'll just make a note and charge an admin fee. As I intended on doing it, it was declared on my policy from the start.

    £1 per kWh

That will go up in 2 weeks, but not as high as the 52p that was planned. I work in Education, the government announced pay rises for teachers, then gave us half the money to pay for them, now we're looking at being 500-750k in the hole by July after all the savvy deals we did to mitigate the...

Poll on owning & using a Type 2 "fast" charge cable

I needed a type 2 cable for destination charging (mostly work), therefore chose an untethered home wall point. So it's a Need on 2 counts.

    Window Tinting MG5

Front sides, anything more than twilight will push you past the legal maximum. It does seem a bit too light considering I went onyx on the rear, but should blend well with luna.

Love this car even more now!

So long as its not evergiven, it's all good. At full throttle, even in sport mode, it's very floaty.

    Free home charging point ?

7,534 days until I retire.. Urgh. Free charger* ship sailed around the time the OLEV grant of £350 toward a charger* appeared. Now that's also gone and you're going to be looking around £1000 for a 'standard' install, I just factored the cost of a charger into my vehicle purchase cost, and...

Is Battery storage a better option since utilities price rises?

You need a compatible charger. The MGs don't have an api that octopus can communicate, so it has to be a charger off the list.
