Well that didn't take long ! (minor damage)

I got some MG paint from Brown & Gammons when I had some pockmarks on the car's bonnet. It's exact MG stuff without the dealer markup.

    Cyclone Alfred - Brisbane Australia

We have friends and family in your area, so we're sitting 10000 miles away watching the weather info closely. Two nieces are sort of in harm's way, one near the coast, but hopefully as you say sheltered by Stradbroke. Another near a river, which might not be ideal. And herself's elderly Mum a...

    Intermittent Android Auto

There's.... discussion... going on the household about this at the moment. My phone, who goes by the name of Wolfie, has no trouble whatsoever with Android Auto. Herself's phone, going by the name of Sugarplum, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't, sometimes disconnects. Both phones the same...

    Strange percentage behaviour after recharge

Some time back we had something similar. We topped up somewhere - can't recall the percentage - but it stayed displaying that percentage for about 40 miles and then dropped away. We concluded that the display was wrong - that the actual percentage was higher, and eventually caught up with...

MG4 got Special suspension or 50/50 weight stuff?

It is a joy, isn't it? This was one of our concerns when we were thinking about the car, as our roads here are very bad. So when we had a test drive, we chose a road we knew was particularly bad. As it happens, on that day they were repairing one section! But the rest we knew to be a real...

MG4 powering other stuff (Vehicle to Load aka ‘V2L’)

Same here. I've used our little petrol generator a few times just to make sure it continues to run, in case, but otherwise the winter deficit has easily been made up by the car.

    Ooh - an intrusion warning!

I think I've worked out what you mean, but the car was definitely unlocked at the time. The alarm also went off a moment after I snapped the inside release. It may have been Just One Of Those Things. Remember we live in an area where, years ago, when we had a Range Rover, someone came to us and...

    Ooh - an intrusion warning!

Yes, it's both comforting and concerning at the same time. It's not impossible someone walking by idly tried the door handle or something, but I would have thought the hoot would have sounded when I opened the door, in that case.

    Ooh - an intrusion warning!

Here's an interesting one, for several reasons. We were overnighting in Inverness after going to the ballet, and took the opportunity to put the car into a slow charger from about 10%SOC. At around 7:30 this morning I walked the half-mile or so to the chargers and all looked well. I clicked the...

    Planning a trip to Scotland

Just to report back - I've just been in to Lochinver and thought I'd give the Electroverse card a go on the journey charger, just to see if it now works again. And yes, it did. But we think that the cost we get charged is now the same as with the CPS card - 70p in the Highlands for Highland...

    Planning a trip to Scotland

The Electroverse card should work, but recently, our local Highland Council-owned charger stopped responding to the Electroverse card (Not Authorised) and required the CPS RFID card. This is annoying, as it's cheaper with the Electroverse card, and knowing the Council's small-mindedness may be...

You CAN road trip an SE SR

Sorry - missed this. That's very helpful, thanks very much. I've just checked the Tesla app, and yes, it confirms that 12 traps are available, as are 12 additional ones down the road at Todhills. Interestingly, Todhills is a penny cheaper at peak times.

Will a sheet of plywood fit in the MG4!

Chatting with a friend a while back, and he was saying you can get blow-up roof carriers for occasional carrying. It seems they have straps that go through the doors, after which you blow up the carrying section on the roof. Apparently it comes with additional straps for the load. I think I...

    Second Year Service

Two comments. Just to put things into perspective, our neighbour has just had her Volvo ICE car second year service. It cost over £800. The other comment was that we were offered a 3 year service plan when we bought Goth Leo. These sound suspiciously like those "extended warranties" you get...

    More winter wonders

Yes, of course they helped, but I honestly do not think they helped most. Electronics got me up that hill, believe me.

    More winter wonders

Last year, I posted some video of a trip to the village in snowy conditions that left many other cars unable to get up the many steep hills on our area. I was amazed at Goth Leo's ability in the treacherous conditions. Today, I had to go the village again, and there's been a slight thaw. The...

You CAN road trip an SE SR

Possibly, but there may be some wriggle-room in this if it's enforced. For example, does the Tesla subscription make it a "club" rather than fully open to public use, so they could argue, if they felt like it, that the proprietary aspect is membership rather than ownership. It may not be in the...

You CAN road trip an SE SR

It's difficult to see how that approach will achieve its aim. If the idea is to make it easier to charge, at more locations, then this simply encourages a more closed-shop approach to the existing charge network, be those Tesla, Ionity or ChargePlace Scotland.

You CAN road trip an SE SR

Good grief. That will be a blow to us. I can absolutely understand, and approve of, legislation that mandates contactless payment, but forcing the existing network to comply seems bizarre*. * - (Unless a political "donor" owns a charger machine supply company, in which case it makes perfect...
