Here's an interesting one, for several reasons. We were overnighting in Inverness after going to the ballet, and took the opportunity to put the car into a slow charger from about 10%SOC. At around 7:30 this morning I walked the half-mile or so to the chargers and all looked well. I clicked the button to unlock the car, and collected the cable, which we keep in the frunk. (We bought that frunk.at after some recommendations here). I then open the driver's door and unlatched the bonnet, while standing outside the car in the light rain.
And the alarm went off. Hoot-Hoot, Flash-flash, the lot.
Oh well, at least the car has an alarm, but I wondered what triggered it. I wondered if it was to do with the fact that the fob wasn't in the car when I undid the bonnet. So I locked again, then unlocked and stretched into the car with the fob. All was well. I don't believe the car was tampered with in any way overnight. I had a good look around.
Here's the additional interesting bit. By the time I got back to the hotel, I had an email message:
"The abnormal invasion into your vehicle (***XXX) has triggered an alarm on 24-01-2025 07:37:58 GMT."
(I've removed our VIN number, but they only sent the last 3 characters, quite correctly, anyway)
All of that, except for the oddity of the alarm triggering, seemed A Good Thing.
