    MG4 First Impressions...err Foibles

All the cars I've had with heated steering wheels have reset to off when I've switched the car off - that's a good thing isn't it? Heated steering and heated seats you might only need when you drive first thing in the morning. I bet if they did remain on there would be people on the forum saying...

    Tyres

I guess where you live you're going to get the economy hit whatever you do but Winter tyres are definitely the right choice with average temperatures a lot lower than the SE of England where I live. I have never actually fitted Winter tires, but about 10 years when I was commuting 200 miles a...

    MG4 doesn't save driving mode!?

Yes, it was also confirmed on the later November 21st Podcast (at 30:20) by Miles, amidst the MG4 Software Update discussion, that these settings do not save. It was expected that they would at the press launch but that's not on cars as they are currently shipping.

So which is better All Seasons, Four Seasons or Crossclimate or are they just marketing names for the same kind of tyre?

Don't VAG TMS auto calibrate to the corner of the car the wheel is on unlike MG?

    Tyres

Absolutely, the handling can be very adversely affected if the newer more grippy tyres are on the front. This applies to both front-wheel drive and rear-wheel drive cars. If the tyres at the rear have less grip/traction than the front in even damp road conditions (including wet, snow and ice)...

    Shocking (cost of electricity)

If you have Standard Range MG4 or ZS SR both have 51 kWh LFP which are good for about 3,000+ full Charge Discharge cycles and still maintains 80% capacity. If you charge and discharge 25 kWh per day that is 6,000 days and that is 16 years and 5 months. There is also a stake of evidence from...

    Shocking (cost of electricity)

You could use the V2L and a cable into an isolator and transfer switch to charge at night and have 50+ kWh for the day using the Car's battery

I guess the down side of the LEAF is the 50 kW max CHadeMo Rapid and "Rapid-Chargegate" due to the "Passive" battery (non)-cooling. Otherwise it is very good EV

Personally, I do. Rather than have some flaky camera watching my face to see if I'm paying attention I'd take a better MG Pilot disengagement and stop system if the driver fails to respond to the second warning to hold the steering wheel as the LEAF ProPilot does for example.

Not exactly "the bump with the "IR window" on it on the top of the steering column could literally have no camera in it". If the bump is there then the sensor/camera is there. What I'm saying is that some Trophy cars, according to a dealer I spoke to, are coming through without the bump at all...

    MG4 First Impressions...err Foibles

I was offered a returned Trophy last week (ie end of Nov) by a dealer at £32,500 ie above RRP! The car had been supplied in Sep and had 475 miles on the clock having been driven for 37 hours. I was told the owner hadn't gotten on with it ... I wonder why?

I was one of the first 1,000 to order the ZS EV when it was released and in the first year to eighteen mons I had frequent trips to the dealer for software updates, a recall and an HVAC fault that turned out to be common. Fortunately, I didn't have the steering rack problem which plagued many ZS...

    MG4 First Impressions...err Foibles

I believe there is a software bug in the Driver Alertness system which I have heard MG is working on so the dealers just updating the software before the bug is fixed won't fix anything. I have also heard that some recent Trophy deliveries haven't had the driver alert cameras fitted so they are...

    Shocking (cost of electricity)

My Go ends Dec 17 and I have been enjoying 24.5 p and 7.5 p although a year ago when I was offered these rates I thought they were expensive. At the weekend I was offered the new Go at 44.35 p and 12 p for 4 hours (00:30 - 04:30) or Octopus Intelligent at 44.35 p and 10 p for 6 hours (23:30 -...

    Queuing etiquette

The simple answer is that there is no real protocol among EV drivers, unfortunately. In the early days, when there were far few early adopters there was a more accommodating comradery, and although fewer public chargers, there was more of a "after you," "no after you" culture. However, there...

    Breaking News MG4 Prices Slashed!

Could this be that the "The Stellantis boss" has been busy sweating his ICE assets rather than seeking the opportunity of developing new EV products that people actually want to buy. He then turns around and says there's no money in EVs because while Stellantis take the shortcut of cramming an...

You are making such a good case for Grid Level Storage and Smart Metering for Time of Day Tariffs along with legislating for all Smart Home Chargers to have Vehicle to Grid capability that you should stand for parliament as a Green Party candidate at the next election.

I was quoting my actual. In Summer my Gen 1 ZS GOM often will quote over 200 miles directly off the charge and about town with a rural mix A and B roads I'll get 180 miles actual miles. Conversely, in Winter, 135/140 miles on the GOM after an overnight charge and I'll get about 110/120 driving.
